One more 400 on the way (crew bid is out for it), rumored 2 more basically a done deal.

Yes a couple of classics are due to be parked end of the year due to time and cycle's being met.

AMC from end of this month won't put flying on classics from any carrier.

The scuttlebutt around campus is that 7 400's needed like "last month" for predicted flying and Connie is out looking for airframes.

As for hiring, will have to see what level the classics are kept at as 200 and 400 crewed differently (7 crews classic approx., and 8 CA 14 FO's per 400) so you can see each new 400 sucks up quite a few FO's. So far no (official) talk of furlough's which is a good sign.

How can 'furlough' even be a part of that entire comment?
unless you are considering FE's?

Obviously you don't speak management-ese. Furlough is always on thier minds as they seek to improve the bottom-line
and if you don't pay attention to the bottom line you do not stay in business

The bottom line is more than fine at Kalitta believe me.

Yes, exactly, I don't understand these two previous posts, obviously they don't work at Kalitta, they probably fly at Evergreen.
Besides not furloughing in general, the math is easy, one plane, two planes, how and why would there be a furlough. Duh!

OK to clarify, no "official" word of furlough, and yes furlough will only effect the FE's sadly.

They can't really do a furlough as you would have to cut deep into the 400 crews based on seniority (most new hires have been to the 400) and they are already short there. Cheaper just to have classic crews sitting and train as required when 400's arrive, park 200's to a level they want, furlough FE's and then street hire to the 400 as the 400 uses nearly 50% more FO's than CA's from the "classic pool".

Are you on Mars, you don't really work here, right?

NOTHING to do with "cheaper". Seniority, how about that? 200 FO's will bid because they can, and will, and have the right to.

Furlough out of seniority, yes they did that once, I'll give you a few names to ask how that affected their lives unfairly.

If these three planes arrive, it will all wash itself out.

Yes they got away with it last time because there were a lot of guys on probation that the company threatened to fire if the union grieved it. Not gonna happen this time around and they know it!

Nice one Lion!!!! dude we are on the same team!!! everyone on property should be off probation no later than around April '13. This will all work out, this time!

Depends on how low they want to staff the classic. If they can get away with not hiring they will since my gut tells me the classics will be going away faster than planned. My homey tells me all 3 400's will be on property by Feb. I hope he is right.

good luck to you

If all three 400's show up?

it's possible. currently at 16 FO's per plane, there may not be that many 'on the property' -200 FO's to bid for it.

we'll see how this bid comes out on the 3rd to get a better idea of how my opinion goes..

yes, Good luck to all that want the opportunity!!

If all three 400's show up?

I believe they would have to reach out and hire, the numbers. 5 crews per classic and 7 crews per 400. Each 400 draws all your CA's plus two more. Each 400 draws all your FO's plus NINE more. A two to one still leaves you FO's short.

there have been statements about that before concerning staffing. If they don't have enough 200 FOs because they bid the 400, they'll park those planes to get a 400 in the air.

By removing the 16 FO's from the the classic bid triangle
It leaves the classic with 48 FO's. Two more 400 bids and
It leaves the classic with 16 active FO's on the triangle.

this is going to be fun to watch !

I need to amend my previous post slightly it would leave 19 FO's and for the CA's side they would come down from 83 (training included in this number) to 59. At 5 crews per airframe that would be enough for 4 airframes. I believe that we will using 6 to 7 classics for another year or two, so something will have to happen. I think we will stay at 40 to 45 people per seat for a bit.

I think they cut us at 45 crews last time. you've summed it up well, with that math, we won't furlough, in fact we may hire to either plane.

My two billed muddy hen told me today, that we can expect one -400 basic boeing freighter by middle of Oct. the 2nd one will go through a C check first, probably online in November, and the ERF coming after the new year. Just sayin!

Bid cancelled. Supposed to be some info tomorrow about why, but rumor is that the airplanes are coming on property as fast as they first thought.

Someone probably figured out the can't fly and train guys at the sametime, that you need a training bubble. C-net is usually three or four airframes basically staffed around the clock for the month of Dec. Hard to do that if 25% of your FO's have left for training.

Sooooooooo, what happened?

Reduced lift out there right now. When you are buying 100+ million dollar aircraft, you need to ensure you can fill them!

100+ million? Only the ERF cost that much, the rest have been in the twenty's and we are busy as all get on the 400 side of the house.

Not enough to justify three airplanes right now. That is what we were told as the bid was cancelled and potential purchase was cancelled or postponed. The head guy, NW, basically put a "gabash" on it for the immediate future.

Should be looking for other avenues and not putting all the eggs with NW and DHL.
