That's great you will have a big aircraft order. Will you fly them out if any DL hubs other than LA or SEA? Doubt it. You are running out if cities to go nonstop from ANC, PDX, LAX, and SEA. Let me guess though: SEA to Grand Rapids, Hartford, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Grand Junction, and Flagstaff? I don't care. LAX is running out of gates, along with SEA. Enjoy those new planes! If we ever merge, you'll probably be able to fly the DC9 in the right seat too.

While you missed on the ALK to Mexico prediction, you nailed the SEA to Far East part. I have noticed you being pretty good at your predictions before. Do I smell a pretty solid inside scoop? Given that, can you share why you are so sure DAL will buy ALK? Aren't you with SKYW?

South, eh? Good. Go to Managua and Bogota from LA! Have fun with that. I know we used to do LA to São Paulo nonstop on a 767 and it was close to 12 hours enroute, so you won't be doing that. Also, have you been down to a lot of those places yet? Not that much fun. Cancun, maybe. Bogota or Managua, not so much. Don't you currently do allnight turns from LA to Mexico City? Turns? Yuck. Erlanger only predicted more of the same. His prediction about a merger is the same one pilots at both companies keep chatting about. I'm skeptical he has any inside information.

Of course the announcement was for more Far East flying for Delta. That's what Delta does out of SEA. And of course the press release said this flying was due to the close partnership Delta has with Alaska. That flying couldn't exist without it.

Like someone else said. "Why buy the cow?" An airline will only make a move on AS if they feel like their West Coast feed is threatened.

If I may quote a favorite movie:

Yes, you heard it hear, Delta will purchase Frontier, they will take all those scare-busses and press them into service. Delta will defer some of their -800 deliveries to AK. That will leave AK to take the remaining F9 pilots and F/A's and staple them to the bottom of AK's list. Those new -800's AK get will go to bolster the Delta west coast feed to the orient!!

AK and Delta will share the gate space at DEN!

The plan will be finalized later this year after DOT approval!!

Can someone tell me what that is all about? Does that still exist? Details please.

Alaska is a great company, does some amazing flying, always thought of it as a nice place to work. I hope for AK pilots' sake, they do stay independent. This whole my airline is better than yours things gets out of hand. To each his own.

There are NO -800 deliveries. DL will be taking 100 737-900ERs. Your idea sounded ok, except it was wrong in the beginning. If you want an idea to sound credible, you have to be factual. I also heard DL will be getting Sonic Cruisers soon for 1 hour service to Turkey from DTW.

As far as where one flys to or the equipment one flys really doesn't matter, IMO. I've been there done that (flying heavies around the globe) and it ain't very glamorous, IMHO. I don't want to look like I'm in my 70s in my 50s, if you know what I mean. It's all about time off and $s. This job doesn't define me and I have a life outside the cockpit.

I'm not sure there is anything to purchase at Frontier, the operations probably has a negative net worth. There might be some individual parts of some value apart from the whole. Delta doesn't need the operating certificate, the brand or the employees and I don't think anybody else does either. I also don't think anybody has a burning desire to the third wheel in the Denver market.
