Somehow I expect there will be more news forthcoming in the weeks ahead. A major move like shutting down Comair, they would already have the next two or three steps worked out.

Keep up, SkyWest has long term contacts for all of their 200's, that's 150, 25 more than the contract allows. Delta will have to buy out the contract and assume the leases if they want to park those planes.

Not all of the 50's are under contract until the end of the contract. The number of aircraft gradually winds down starting pretty soon. By the time the contract is up in 2020, virtually all of the airplanes under contract with SkyWest, Inc. are gone.

Correct, 2017-2020, so the first one will come off contract in four and a half

And Delta needs them off contract before then... So i see some levrage on SkyWests side.. Will see..

SkyWest might get a lot of the planes, and they should have the pilots to do it, because when DL does start hiring in ernest, many of the newhires will be ALPA carrier regional guys like ASA (Expressjet) and PNCL and those guys can come over without disrupting the RJ feed. Makes sense. I hope 79%N1 and XJhawk are in one of the first few classes. The VP of Flt Ops said they forecasted up to 7000 possible newhires over the next decade.

Delta is bigger than any stupid contract. Delta eats contracts for lunch. If they won't honor a contract with a business partner I would be worried as a pilot they won't honor mine either. Just the kind of guy RA is.

Just for the record I want less rj's all together. But Delta seems to be a little untrustworthy as a business partner.

YA THINK?!?!?!!!!!

Delta is not the Delta we all came to know and love ( I have warm fuzzies, teddy bears and sweet nothings about old Delta) New Delta is not really Delta but NORTHWEST AIRLINES IN DELTA COLORS. WE all saw how NORTHWEST MANAGEMENT ran a once proud profitable airline into the ground, treated thier employees like garbage then took over old Delta with Delta's money. (merger) Stay tuned. When the cards are down, watch what Delta does to it's young.
