How long would it take to get out west when Delta starts hiring again?
SLC, LAX, SEA

Would junior guy be on the A320 or 737 in SLC?

First question. Who knows? Second question, since the 320 pays less that would probably be junior. Plan on being NYC based, followed by DTW.

If you want those bases over the long haul- id suggest skywest.
I mean how much longer can mainline profitably fly any single aisle airliner- I mean those types have bad schedules and don't go to Rio...

Delta staffing is anyone's guess. But here's mine.

Fewer pilots than anticipated took the early out. (about 25 <60 and about 90 >60) The early out was sold to us as an offset to staffing reductions caused by more efficient work rules. We were told to expect around 300 early outs, in reality, around 120 are taking it.

Delta is already about 200 fat on pilots (based on summer schedule). The economy, and how they plan on phasing in the M90s & 717s vs the cuts in DC9s will dictate when hiring begins.

This "early out" will eat up all our 2013 retirees, and lots of the 2014 numbers so there will be little to no movement in senior categories for the next few years. That means West bases are most likely years away for new hires, and decent lines in those bases even further.

I believe there is now a 24 month seat lock for new hires. All hiring will almost completely be into the 717 DTW/ATL, and M88/90 NYC categories. My opinion is that hiring won't happen until late 2013, with a weak economy and capacity pull downs as cause. I would like to be wrong about this though!!!

Or you could go to southwest if you just pony up the money. Based on the posters here, the only requirement is for your mom and dad to have a thick checkbook.
Of course furloughs are more likely at southwest before they start hiring again.

Yeah, SWA isn't competitive at all. Only the pilots who can't get on at a real airline that flies WIDEBODIES go there.
Thanks for responding to my post scoot.:)
All flame needs someone to take the bait.
To those looking for info- I'm done and won't hijack more- just keeping my promise to remind DALPA pilots what sellouts they are at every step - good luck getting on at delta- if you can avoid their senior selling YOU out, itll be a good career for you-
please remember not to sellout when you get a seniority number.

No wave, thank you for your continued infatuation with Delta. I seriously hope you find the group of DL pilots that nailed your old lady. Your obsession is disturbing, to say the least.

Wave's infatuation would be with any group who set a poor precedent on this decade's mainline contracts. Just so happened DAL decided to go first.

They're especially good at being first
But spot on- I don't like any group outsourcing- but when the strongest, most unified of the big 3 does it just as AA goes into bk and concurrent with UniCal fighting against large a/c scope- its especially egregious.
Enjoy that payraise delta- it wasn't worth it.

Where did you see those numbers? Also, I thought they had until July 31, then a 2 week period to pull out.

113 as of a few days ago from ATL .Still 15 days to go so it's not final but I would think not that many more lets say 50. In the past about 10% will retract in the period used to let folks change their mind. I don't think they will get any thing close to the 300 advertised . In my category 744 A some said 9 guys out of 225. I know of one guy who is 63 that is taking the deal. To many of us that just enjoy coming to work I guess.

12 month seat lock for new hires now. I agree with your assessment of the early out-I feel like the union just really painted a rosy picture of that. I saw it coming and that's one of the big reasons I voted no on the TA. Now we are stuck with these work rules. I think once the real retirements start, a west coast base would come pretty quickly, though.

Well, at least you admit that you are nothing more than a flamebaiter. Thanks for being honest. It's just really pathetic, and kind of sad, that an active line pilot for a great company like Southwest Airlines has, as his major hobby, flamebaiting on an internet message board on a nearly daily basis. Literally....Unbelievable and sad.

Or outsourcing half of your domestic operation is sad. Maybe?

Sorry I haven't forgot where I came from Dtw.

I just talked to a guy who was a 18 year f/o on the bus in and recently got displaced out of slc... any truth to that???

No truth. Probably 18 year FNWA guy bumped from bigger bus (330) when that plane was pushed out of MSP.

Bye Bye---General Lee

ok cool, ya he said he was an old nwa guy commuting to reno from slc. said he could hold 767er captain out east but decided to stay in slc as an fo but ended up getting dispaced to msp. Then he said if I ever got on at D I would never hold slc...

Yep, sounds like wave is infatuated with Delta and is one righteous dude.

Tell ya what, you keep your house in order and we'll do what we can to keep ours in order.

You don't know what you are talking about. When you get the facts straight, come on back with a decent retort. Do you know anything about our agreement?

I know its the first agreement by a big 3 pilot group to allow -900's outside of "duress"- which means it sets a stronger precedent. I know that you can now add 70 more -900's without exchanging a -700 for one.
And I know that both AA and UniCal are fighting like hell to keep scope at 50-70 & you guys just cut their legs out.
And I also know that -900's will not replace the mission of most 50's- it'll be used to supplement mainline on mainline routes between big markets

Oh look, another DL thread, and waveflyer jumps on. Did you ever find the name of that DL pilot that nailed your mom, sister, or whoever it was that has you so infatuated?
Flattery wave. Maybe in your case, it's stalking!

So classy-
If it were just a delta pilot finally getting laid, I'd have been happy for them no matter who it was-
Scope issues get me a little more dedicated-
You know the issue is you guys selling out....again- for a biscuit.

So what your sister sold out for less. And got to promote the video! Try something else you flame baiting ****************************** bag! When you work for a real airline you can get back to us. Until then you're just a hypocritical asswipe bottom feeder!
I'm done with you and your fiance redflyer!
