They need a group of pilots to fill there new hire class, that way they have someone to furlough 10 days into training. They havn't done that in at least 3-4 months.

Yes we are!!! But this is the dead last regional you want to work for!!!

Wow I don't think I've ever seen Republic pilots talk this way. And I thought y'all were a Major?? :)

Just kidding, best of luck guys. But seriously what is going on over there?

Everything!!! We are in mediation right now. If we get release by the NMB (I don't think I'll happened yet) I'm sure by 99.25% we will strike this sheet hole management back to the stone age!! other than that the company health insurance is very good. :/

Our boss just lobbed a bag of ******************** at us in negotiations. "Current contract as is. Take it or leave it. You're lucky to have jobs."

Welcome to the new world of Contract Carrier negotiations. If you want an answer to why that is the case, look no further than the "diversify at any cost" movement that drove down the block hour prices (to win the favor of ever more Major carriers) and led to the end of any hopes for Labor to make across the board gains. ALPA, Teamsters, Independent, it doesn't matter, in our zeal to capture "growth" we played right into the hand that the legacies were dealing us.

From what I have read here and at willflyforfood.com, the boss and other members of management is that he/they must be a real.....db(s). The most common message I have read from current and former pilots at your airline is to stay (and even run) away from this airline.

If you are so down on your luck to come to republic as a new hire please consider the following: you will be number 3000 out of 3000, you are looking at a 10 year upgrade at a minimum, numerous midwest and q400 guys just waiting to take your upgrade. On reserve here you will see your family about 7 to 8 nights a month, make 21,000 a year while doing it, take a pay cut every year as the health premium doubles, stay at lovely hotels like days inn buffalo, your entire life will be a constant struggle while your out station base opens and closes every other year, when you jumpseat home on"company" you will be denied - by a frontier captain. Then after 6 years of being an fo here your ceo will write you a letter saying that you dont understand the pressures of the industry and you will be getting a pay cut. Please do not even fill out the app at republic, there are so many other places to go. Your family will thank you, you dont want to get into this disaster over here.

You think that this statement will even make a CFI with SJS to even stop for a second and not apply?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

That's some funny stuff!!!

Let them come then. I dont care. I was just trying to let them know how bad it is here. I almost wish to be a CFI and home every night instead of what I have now.

This isn't my first rodeo either. Third airline, bankruptcy, furlough, upgrade, downgrade.... SOmeday it might be ok to work here, but NOT now. I'm trying to get the hell out of here as soon as I can (and work in the US)

just got called to interview on feb. 8. Looking forward to it. Anybody else?

lol!:d

I'll bet you not one pilot ever quit Republic to go back to flight instructing. The two jobs are not even on the same level. It's just like no pilot has ever quit a major or low cost carrier to go to Republic.

There were guys who I instructed with who thought that way about Mesa (not comparing Republic to Mesa)... They went to Mesa anyway and didn't wait for a better place. They didn't believe what guys who work at mesa told us... Those guys ended up with 3yrs seniority lost and moving to other stepping stones starting over because they wouldn't wait 3 more months.

I understand the I just wanna get in a jet mentality. But don't go somewhere on the verge of a strike when there are other airlines who are hiring, IMO. There are some really good guys at Republic, I have good friends there... But times are tough right now and looking to get worse. Go interview and see what comes of it. Best of luck in whatever you do.

Best of luck, but when they furlough you next october, like they have done numerous times over the last few years, i dont want to see you complaining on the message board.

You will be treated as a seasonal worker here, they would love to have you in the summer, they want nithing to do with you in the winter. Please go to skywest or just about anywhere else.

You are basically a lawnmower here, when the grass aint growin, your on the street just in time for xmas.

I suppose that might depend on where you are flight instructing. But in general flight instruction can be much better than working the bottom of a crappy regional. You get paid more, are home at night, and have better job security and control of your schedule. Chose wisely. Sic turbine time is not as valuable as you might think

They can interview one more since I just wrote my letter turning down my recall. The $16,000 a year pay cut from my entry-level office job was too much. Good luck to all the Midwest pilots that choose to go back or run away.

Big thanks to Tim H, ALPA, Bryan B and the IBT!

Most flight instructing jobs don't provide health insurance or travel benefits though. I'll take a crappy regional.

People are fleaing from here like a burning building!!!! Even Volgan is better!!! At least you don't have some self-centered phony religious guy running it!!!!

For you 190 drivers........good luck.
