Should I listen to SWA veteran - CEO of one of the most successful businesses in America, or to some 5 year FO who managed to squeak by the interview process?

I'd keep listening to your MEC. They are one you pay and put in the position to negotiate for you. Stick to plan A
 
Fly, this is true. What you seem to not understand is you are secure at AT. Quit thinking like a pilot. You should trust GK, but verify. In the end you will have a job, but where that job might be who knows.

I don't know if you got the memo - ATN MEC voted down the AIP.

ALL SWAPA propaganda and fear campaign aimed at swinging AT pilots' vote is suspended till further notice.

Except for when the AIP2 will be out for a vote, you guys will not have time to blast us with propaganda on FI. You will be screaming at the top of your lungs at SC at roadshows and on SWAPA forum.
 
I am truly amazed at the Ill-will being wished upon the pilots at AT. Many of us have been in total support of SW since this deal was announced. To wish us on the street, with no way to support our families is despicable.
I am ashamed of ANY fellow pilot who would wish such a result.

I don't have a dog in this fight and my busted career in civil aviation is well documented on this board.
I don't know how this will end. I've posted various possible scenarios that are possible. Whether or not they come to pass is anyone's guess.

My caution to all AirTran pilots is to not win a Pyrrhic Victory. I've seen too many of those 'victories' by pilots who have followed ALPO over the cliff.

I intentionally stayed off Flight info while the "voting" was being bandied about for this exact reason. So as not give the perception of selling anything.

Now who is full of hyperbole and fear? Really? I mean did Steve Chase sleep with your girlfriend or something? I have never personally attacked your Union president, the MEC or the WGAC (we got acquired committee). Why do you feel the need to have some personal vendetta over who could very well be your future president?

Keep fantasizing about the Windfall you think you're going to be handed by some arbitrator. I'm sure this is the only thing that helps you sleep better at night. If I were in your shoes I think I'd be trying to come up with a different strategy.

I can only speak for myself, even though many here probably feel the same way to some degree. I don't wish any ill will to anyone at ATN, but I do think you guys got taken hostage by your FAB-7. I think when this announcement first came out of ATN/SWA, many of us were ready to embrace you guys as I am sure you guys were ready to embrace us. The problem is not the ATN pilots, its ALPA. They, kind of, have taken this SLI hostage. Like I said in another post, there is a point where SWA MGMNT won't want to deal with ALPA. There might also be fears that once this thing is over, the ALPA mentality will be present with some of your guys. The word ALPA here at SWA has the same effect as a pile of SH&% on a white table cloth. I think if ALPA gives Gary time, at least grant him his wish to settle outside arbitration then there is hope. I also believe that SWA MGMNT knows some, or most, of you guys are not in line with ALPA but how do you keep that 10% away from SWA? Not that our 10% is better or worse, but at least SWA hired them and let them slip through. Here the front door is wide open for the 10%, and Gary might want to close the door once he saw how that 10% really was.
 
Fly, I read your post. I am not trying to fear monger or whish ill will. I just would like for you to take a break and let GK,Swa,Swapa,Alpa handle your future. It's all good. If you are a capt or FO when it is all done you still will have a job. A good one at that.

It's a two way street. Haven't been on the receiving end of any great treatment from the AAI side of the fence. Quite the contrary.

That is life old man. It is like watching the discovery channel. You feel sorry for the young little animals that are killed and eaten by the lion or whatever. Its life. That is the way you have to look at Airtran pilots. You either eat them or they will eat you.
 
It may come a time when I may need those of you that know my feelings to step up and help me find work. I hope when and if that time comes that I can count on you for support. I have heard in private messages from some of you at SW and I appreciate those words of support. This whole thing has me deeply troubled.
