Can any Air Trannies chime in on this article from Avondale Partners ?
At the big D, we have not heard any info about the 717's moving to the Widget.

"We believe the B717s will eventually fly for Delta. Southwest wants to keep a single fleet type and, as indicated in this article, and will be pulling flights from smaller cities. Delta just ordered 100 larger B737-900 aircraft of its indicated 200 aircraft requirement. "We believe the 86 B717s at AirTran, currently on lease from Boeing, will be traded in to Boeing for more Southwest B737's. Expect Boeing to then lease or sell the B717s to Delta, perhaps as a second, but yet unannounced, part of the recent B737 order from Delta to Boeing.
"This would be consistent with DAL's plan to limit capital expenditures while opportunistically upgrading the Delta fleet. It would also explain why DAL did not announce orders for smaller aircraft to satisfy part of its 200 aircraft total need.
"This decision by Southwest and our assumed moves by Delta would both seem be in the best interests of these two airlines."

Wishful thinking all around. So much so, that you'd think it's raining pixie dust.

Wishful for the DAL guys because they want a 100 seater on the property.

Wishful for the SWA because they think it means something for the SLI (hint: corporate merger has already happened...the arbitrator will see any 717 reduction as a SWA corporate action, and not penalize the AT guys for it.)

I seriously doubt the 717s will ever fly for DAL.

Once the 717 is gone the arbitrator won't matter. You guys keep thinking as if the arbitrator is somehow in your corner and not ours. Pretty bold.

I can guarantee you of one thing here..

Gary is looking at EVERY single option. I wouldn't rule this one out just yet. We'll all have to wait and see which lever he pulls.

Wow, it must be great to have a direct line to the mind of the God King.

And it's a sad thing to live in a vacuum.

Whether this has M/B implications or not, integrating 600 pilots is better than integrating 1600.

I wonder how this will affect today's "talks". Aren't they all 717 guys? Hopefully they can remain objective.

So Fubi,

Since you love to throw interesting retorts around, tell me that you think I'm wrong. So in your mind, Gary has his head in the sand with no plan B, C or D? What are you smoking?

You got a better chance asking a pig to sing!

Not saying that at all. My point is NONE of you clowns have a clue what he's really thinking.

But that doesn't stop any of you from pitching around empty threats in an attempt to intimidate AAI pilots into accepting a POS SLI plan.

Never claimed to.

That ship has sailed. Telling you the realities of the AAI situation that you can't seem to acknowledge is not an empty threat. It's a reality. Reality check Fubi. Nothing forces Kelly to give AAI pilots SWA jobs. Nothing. Hence the word "if"

I know. It really sucks going through life at work without the ability to really HATE the guy you work for.

Maybe some day soon you too can be a mindless CULTist like the rest of us REAL SOUTHWEST PILOTS.

Ty,

Doesn't your fragmentation language say the pilots go with the jets? How would this 717 to Delta scenario play out?

Gup

No way. That would be too much delicious irony!

It's obvious that Gary and the Swa BOD have taken note of the brilliance and historical operational success of ALPA, and have decided to give the running of Southwest over to them......
