Very accurate, but you can't leave out the huge pressure from Europe with ICAO. They passed it first, and for the US, it was just a matter of time.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've been keeping an eye on European age rules.
Keep an eye on Asia. They'll lead the age change followed by Europe.

Baby Boomers...
All you see on TV now days is "me, Me, ME!!! I want my power scooter at no cost to me, and more more free stuff... this handy weather radio...absolutely free, delivered to my door, free of charge. I want to find out if I qualify for more free stuff... And if I can't afford it, they will figure out how to make taxpayers pay for my free, free stuff."

Switching channel..."What!?! Social health-care? NO WAY!... No one will take MY FREE STUFF!!!"

Just retire... ride your power-scooter to Las Vegas casino to blow your Social Security check... Go, already!

If this campaign starts, I'll be the 1st to show up in DC to testify about my experiences flying with the over 60 crowd, esp. before and after daylight hours. It won't be pretty. There is a difference and many of us have now seen it.

The day I even HEAR about age an 67 or 70 campaign is the day I start writing up sleepy heads, guys asking me to land when it's dark, and missed radio calls when it's my leg. Go ahead, make my day.

Rant off...

PS There's a reason we haven't had a hull loss, yet. It's called the other guy.

Go to pprune. There is already a thread on 70. It's happening already. Except the AirFrance guys. They want it lowered to 45..... The Greeks don't care because why should they have to retire if they aren't forced to go to work in the first place.....

Age 67? That means senior Southwest Captains can fly another 3400 legs in the last 2 years, and 2200 of them will be WITHIN Texas. THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Gen,

Your almost correct, they are raking in way too much money for very little work.

Think about it..5 weeks of vacation, picking the best lines, and an occasional sick call, they are really working maybe three times a month and getting 300k. Would you leave?

I retired at 60 because it was the limit 8 years ago. I am glad I did because there is more to life than flying airplanes. I don't like FO's saying hull losses are not ocurring because they babysit the over 60 captain. On rare occasions, that is true, I have been there trying to keep a semi asleep captain going the right direction but most guys that retired at 60 were sharp and even as an FO didn't think they should be forced to retire. I know you don't like the stagnation but don't make it what it isn't.

Have you seen those things very often on the line?

Age discrimination is illegal EXCEPT for airline pilots.

A Delta pilot is working part-time job at our charter company.
He is willing to pay for his own training and get qualified in our equipment.
He is 64 years old. He is a captain on the 767,757 and 777.
His seniority is so hi, that he hasn’t flown in more than six months. The only thing he does is the required simulator training for FAR121. He still an active pilot collecting that big check from Delta.
He say that if he pays for his training our company will hire him. He is not asking for a big check he just want to keep flying after retirement from Delta
I don't understand why those companies want to keep all those old senior pilots,
That all they do is complain and not work.
