Thats like someone saying "we do things by the book".......Run like hell.

:)

If I could give one piece of advice to kids when they show up for the first day of flight training, this would be it. :D

Nah, he can be a D-bag in real life when he gets bored with Al's interweb.:D:beer:

UPDATE:

  • Joined the Owners Association
  • Found several owners to fly with
  • Working with SOCATA Dir of Sales... great guy!
  • Headed to school in 6 weeks!

The TBM850 is a really amazing plane. Minus the EVS, it basically has all the bells and whistles of the G550. And I personally like the G1000 suite better.

Anyone interested in buying one... give me a call! ;)

Who cares about the unemployed anyway??? They've been getting checks for the last 3 years sitting around on flightinfo making worthless posts. Who knew that staying at home watching Dr. Phil could be so profitable? Next thing ya know, all my hospital visits will be free too! I love this country!

...maybe if an unemployed pilot invested the time and effort wolfpackpilot obviously did to break into the SE turbine market mentor/pro pilot market, they wouldn't be unemployed?

The hardest part of moving into something smaller is getting use to the bathroom or not being able to use one...

It's a free market. If WPP can get a gig flying on his days off, who cares?

More experienced pilots getting the job--ANY job is the way it's always been in this business. No one is entitled to anything.

WPP, this side job may be the thing that saves you from doing what we talked about on the phone. ;)

Went to a G5 recurrent a couple of years ago with a guy who flys a G5 (could be a 550 today) for a wealthy family out of Texas, they also operated at least 1-TBM. The 5 took the family around and the TBM would be the trailer for all the ski/ranch/beach gear. If I remember the story correctly the pilots had to be current and fly both types. You may want to ask your G tech rep for the contact info.

These guys shouldn't be too hard to find if you are serious about asking the advice from guys who fly both types

Now now...dont start using common sense around here.

Temporary unemployment/underemployment could happen to anyone...unemployed 3 years?...sorry but theres something else going on there.

HA! No joking there.

I am having a blast learning a new plane, meeting a totally different group of pilots (business men who "OWN" their corporate plane), and actually enjoying something in aviation again. I've even decided to get off my wallet and go get a CFI-II. And just think... the 21 year old kid who signs me off will get paid, AND build some flight time so he can go sling the gear for AA717 Driver (which by the way they don't own anymore, and you really fly a 767)

I am pursuing this path not for the money, or the side gig, or the contacts... but to give myself some satisfaction at the end of the day. I am no more entitled than the next guy. I'm putting in my dues now, and hopefully it pays off down the road. The TBM is an interesting plane with an interesting group. They do business meetings in NY (via TEB) on Tuesday and go chase cheeseburgers on Saturday... at 320kts and FL310!
