Just curious if the President tapped you to replace Janet Napolitano aka "Big Sis", what would you do in response to the current airport security controversy with passengers?

Contract it out to the Israelis. And implement Crewpass. And screen non-crew airport employees like, for example ... "baristas."

I have a better solution, it is much cheaper and way better than wasting money on these stupid scanners and invasive pat downs. I don't understand why our stupid gov't has to look high tech when there has always been a low tech solution to detecting a hidden explosive. The gov't could have spent the money on training explosive material sniffing dogs and deploy them at the security lines. They can detect explosives from miles away, and even hidden places, heck the military has been using dogs for that kind of work for years, makes perfect sense to use them at the airports for the same purpose. You place them right at the security point entrance, if they don't sense anything, then you proceed to the metal detector as usual, way better solution and less expensive, plus no patdowns, problem solved......

As Labatt said - Profile, profile, profile.

Backscatter machines - GONE

Then, I would make EVERY TSA agent go thru the detectors and have their belongings scanned everytime they accessed the SIDA. They are just as likely to smuggle something thru to the SIDA as anyone else.

Crewpass - Implement

Mechs - make something similar to crewpass for them.

Policy Memo to All Agencies:

In the early stages of the security process the goal is to identify a threat (or non-threat) before it gets to the airport. With KNOWN trusted agents (uniformed pilots) mucking up the security line, adding to the overall chaos by line jumping, then refusing the AIT which alarms the general public ("if they're refusing xray, maybe I should too"), it just makes the TSA agents' jobs harder, making it easier for a real, actual threat to get through. We must get the pilots out of the way of the TSA agents who are our last line of defense.

Therefore, effective immediately, pilots are banned from the public's 100% bag-check security line check point. Airlines and airports will have to implement one the many already TSA-approved alternate means of security for pilots because they will no longer be allowed through the passenger checkpoints. CrewPass is just one of the currently approved methods, but there are others. Pick one and use it.

Airlines and airports have been asked to work with their local TSA to determine the method appropriate for each location. However, be advised, if pilots are going to get to their planes, they will not get there via the general publics' screening point.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

1. Implement CREWPASS immediately.
2. Increase use of "trusted travelers" immediately.
3. Bid out security to private screeners with federal oversight...No more federal imployees.
4. Profile...Call it "behavioral profiling" to keep the PC crowd happy. Granny and 3 year olds of ANY RACE don't fit the profile.
5. Stop looking for needles in a haystack. You can't keep sharp objects off of airplanes. Just look for bombs and guns.
