Thread creep.

CAL is violating CAL scope and CAL ALPA is looking into it.

So is CAL ALPA going to do anything about it? Unlikely. CAL pilots have not stood up for their jobs or the profession since 1982.

The sad part is that you are comparing your "legacy" to a regional. Very sad.

Actually, I'm comparing a 5 year copilot at a legacy to a regional. Worst case scenario would be a 30 year career in the right seat at a legacy under this current pos contract I'm working under. It is very far fetched as we are about to obtain an industry leading contract next year(you know, that looking forward thing you want us to do), but sitting in the right seat for the next 30 years under this contract is still 10 times better than being on year 12 pay in the left seat at whatever regional you work for for the next 30 years. No comparison.

It is not about affording the move. I just don't see the reason or benifit. There is nothing stellar in your contract. The good thing about my stagnated career progression, is that I learned to diversify. My family life is second to none due to proper planning and if SkyWest goes out of business, it would be a mere speed bump for a month or two.

Good then. The transition will not be a hardship for you. I was thinking about feeling bad about you losing some larger RJ flying on the United side of your little operation. Thank you for squashing that guilty feeling..

CAL has not been industry leading for decades. CAL pilots have never stood up to management. CAL's has the worst work rules, scheduling, international ops, sick leave, commuting, and every other contract section other than scope?

And CAL is going to take scope back without the pilots even saying boo.

From 1987 till 1995 CAL captain made $70k a year with FO's making $35k.

From 1995 on CAL pilots have consistently made 25% to 40% less than other legacies.

Career earnings of a CAL pilot has been half that of a NWA, DAL, UAL, US Air, or SWA pilot.

So what? The argument is regional vs Legacy. Even the most junior person at CAL is still lightyears ahead of the number one guy at any regional. The regional pilots entire career can be wiped out by the stroke of a bean counters pen. The moment you cost too much, the next regional steps in and replaces you.

Exactly it is a CAL problem and CAL PILOTS need to address the problem. Not blame others for picking up the crumbs left behind.

You say so what?

CAL is flying 777s on a regional contract.

OMG you are so right! So smart, so wise. Who do you work for? Don't you want to help others here? Help them decide where the wise one works ?

But you will not tell anyone who you work for, huh?

You are quick to flame CAL, and then run and hide. Most of the time you don't even know what the hell you are talking about. So what perfect airline do you work for ? Don't say Microsoft, they are not an airline!
