Thanks for all the replies. I am not in the pool but was close to getting an interview before SWA stopped hiring (needless to say I have a 737 type). Regardless, it's sad that people actually have to consider leaving a major airline for "greener pastures" these days.
As many have said the potential at CAL/UAL is great, while the track record of SWA is incredible. IMHO the potential of CAL outweighs the potential at SWA. HOWEVER, unlike so many other industries, our careers are strongly affected by the decisions made by upper management. I have very little faith in this little man sMisek and his minions. SWA management has proven that "dignity and respect" is not just a moniker to fool the masses, but an important characteristic of a successful company. This little man sMisek has just gotten a ridiculous raise (while being in position for only 10 months). CAL and UAL made a nice profit last quarter yet he parrots that we pilots must continue to wait to be reimbursed the loan that is due. And of course, while I've always supported ALPA, their apparent impotence at effecting any positive change has gotten old.
