Are you kidding me...somebody is smoking some Cheech and Chong, man. JBLU and F9 is more compatible, but about as likely as a Mormon and a Catholic agreeing on theology.

Frontier had 60 Airbus aircraft and 10 76 seat Turboprops at the time that SWA made a bid for them....The CFO at SWA two week ago said they are looking at 100 seat aircraft.

If SWA could, in one fell swop capture BOS, JFK,HPN,LGA, and the Caribbean by buying JetBlue its just way to good of a deal for SWA two not be looking at....and unlike AA they have the money.

SWA wants into the largest domestic aviation market the country

Improbable but not crazy. SWA wants to dominate NYC and ATL in a big way and plugging the numbers into a spreadsheet will show you that it would probably be easier and cheaper in the long run to purchase JetBlue/Airtran types than to duke it out for market share. SWA has over $3bln in unrestricted cash and an additional $600mil in credit if needed. Most talking heads say they're over capitalized. SWA has 20% of the domestic market. I hear they would like to increase that percentage by quite a bit.

McCaskil/ Bond amenment....wake up!

If you read the statue...

It clearly states "full-time employees". 5 year contract makes "contract pilots".

I wish this wasn't the case, but I would expect this to send me to the poor house before even being argued in court. :puke:

Alaska does not give SWA an immediate access to 50 mil new customers

Alaska gives them:

115 737s
Instant access to ETOPS and 100+ flights a week to Hawaii
Canada
Mexico
1500 qualified 737 pilots
The state of Alaska which includes 4 or 5 lucrative government subsidized routes
