NJI F/A's are happy because they won't be FORCED to be Teamsters. Exactly who will be their bargaining agent is yet to be determined. The NMB decision clears the way for an election that could choose among AFA, an in-house, none at all, or even Teamsters (doubtful). This was round 1.

The most interesting thing is, it means that if RTS had decided to fight the single carrier five years ago instead of giving in, he would have WON.

Well who knows really depending on the landscape of politics at the time. RTS obviously figured he wanted something else for NJI and bargained that. If it were tried now it would be very tough because NJA pilots are working at NJI. NJA FA's aren't.

Very true. The minute the Nov 2005 agreement was signed allowing the crossover, the jig was up. Quite a few of my cohorts refused to believe it then and still have a tough time with it now.

BTW, hope you enjoyed your international airport appreciation :D Six hours. Yikes.

6hrs, after not sleeping a wink the night before. Thank goodness they had a next flight although I was hoping for an overnight, would have been good to hit the town.

I think a lot of people refuse to believe it even till this day. I think most of that is because for so long the message was "it will never happen", then it became, "it will only happen like this" and now the message is "who's in charge today?"

The minute the first crossover ever gets to the V those are the guys that are going to have the real tough time dealing with it. For now we've been kept out, but eventually it will happen.

I'm still waiting for some of the quality of life issues to come back. Coach sucks big time.

Powerful argument for living on the west coast, my friend. You easties been getting beaten up with the new policy, despite what the official line might be.

Only 30 percent of pilots are flying coach. YEAH RIGHT HAHAAA

Interesting mails went out today-- sad news for Okatie even if no positions are actually being eliminated. Difficult choice for those who don't want to leave the beautfiful area and have to go to the CMH environment.

Teamsters also sent out a message to tell the NJI Fa's that if they vote AFA in, they are pretty much kissing their jobs goodbye under the NJA IBT scope clause that all aircraft will have to be crewed only by FA's on the NJA seniority list. So does the company own the employees or does Teamsters? If the company kills the "NJI" label and makes all of it NJA, then wouldn't that suffice to say that at that time all the FA's actually ARE on the NJA seniority list? Also seems to me that if this were a legitimate threat the point would have been well made clear before now.

The collusion between the company and the Teamsters is mind-boggling. The vote starts in two weeks and ends in the middle of July. If I'm an NJI f/a, I'm warming up a HUGE lawsuit...

We should be closing down CMH and moving it to Okatie...not the other way around.
