Delta Pilots= Didn't pay for training.
Southwest Pilots= Pay for training!!!!!!!!!!

Southwest Pilots get paid from day 1
Delta Pilots don't get paid until they finish training
Southwest Pilots stay in hotels with per diem during training, paid by SWA
Delta Pilots have to find their own lodging and no per diem, until they pass their checkride
Delta Pilots had a worthless furlough clause in their contract..(bet you could run through 8,000 in a hurry, not working)
Southwest has never furloughed.

You did see the (?) QUESTION mark after Delta Pilots love codeshares....did you?

Um, DL pilots do get paid day 1. It wasn't a lot, but it was pay. I remember back in 96 getting an envelope with a check every two weeks in my newhire mailbox in the training center. DL pilots aren't paid per diem or hotels initially, unless they have to go somewhere else for the sims, which happens a lot. They might start classes in ATL, but depending which plane they get, they may have to do sims in MSP (NATCO), or MIA. Several of my classmates had to go to MIA, and got perdiem and hotel. Southwest hasn't furloughed, but they also didn't have a losing quarter until recently. Don't ever say NEVER. Any reason DL didn't furlough over this last year? DL was 1300 pilots FAT. The reason DL didn't furlough was because a flow down to Compass would have been VERY expensive, displacing many Compass pilots, disrupting operations, expensive type rides on the E175 for EVERYONE getting furloughed. Management figured a furloughed would have to last more than 2 years to make it cost neutral, and they couldn't see that. That flow down was better than a no-furlough clause.

Any more incorrect assumptions you want to throw out there?

Southwest Pilots get paid from day 1
Southwest pilots had to pay for their job!

Delta Pilots don't get paid until they finish training
Wrong. But as you did pay for your job, it's not surprising.

Southwest Pilots stay in hotels with per diem during training, paid by SWA
Which was funded by you buying your job!

Delta Pilots have to find their own lodging and no per diem, until they pass their checkride
Wrong again nancy! That bitterness of buying your job just shines through. I bet you cried alot during your buy a job program!

Delta Pilots had a worthless furlough clause in their contract..(bet you could run through 8,000 in a hurry, not working)
Couldn't argue there. Ever hear of force majure?

Southwest has never furloughed.
Not yet. But would you get a refund if they did?

I saw it and laughed.
When does the Volaris code share start? You obviously can't handle going across the border!

Good riddance to Westjet. Now, only one to get rid of, Volaris.

And if you haven't figured out life on Flightinfo:

Hey Scope, my last pay statement for April 5th was YTD 76,000 bucks, not including retro. How you doing thus far? And I didn't even pay for my type....

Bragging about pay. That is ALL YOU GOT. How many legs have you flown this year? 346? Good for you. When the legacies bring up their pay, then what will you say? Not much I bet. Do you think you will be the only ones with high pay, forever? You are a well paid regional pilot, with fun stews. Enjoy West Texas.

Oh, and Southwest Pilots get Medical/Dental and Vision benefits from day 1. At Delta you have to wait.

Day 1 at SWA you guys get unlimited free rides to LBB and MAF. Too bad DL pilots don't. Wow, you win. DL pilots only get to see interesting places for free, like Sydney, Paris (France, not Texas), and Rio. (you can see the Rio Grande river near HRL)

Southwest Pilots see HOME more then Delta Pilots.

I will say good luck with that!! We all know how easy it is to get back. Hope the best for you, however, having spent 4 years in LBB, I am about to get tired of you bashing it. You NEVER spent any time there, you have no idea how nice it actually is. Flame away, wanker!!

Thanks Dad, I am glad someone is spending some money in that dump. And, DL pilots got a 17% raise with the NWA merger (over 4 years), and I would say more is on the way with the next contract. When it eventually does happen, you will still be flying old 737-300s in and out of AMA and LBB to beautiful ELP. Sounds FANTASTIC. Enjoy it Pops.

There you go again, telling fibs. What about most DL INTL pilots? The A330, 744, and 75/76 guys can fly 11 or 12 day trips to Asia and then have 18 off in a row, and if you do those types of trips in the beginning of one month, and then at the end of the next month, you can have 30 days off in a row at home. 30 days off at home vs 30 landings in a 4 day trip at SWA. You pick! And, if you want to do domestic flying and get multiple legs, you can do that too at DL. It is all about VARIETY. Variety for you guys is choosing a trip that has legs through ELP to either AMA, MAF, LBB, or even ABQ! Tough choices. (but FANTASTIC at the same time)

12 day trip?

If I fly a lot, I'll be gone 8 nights a month

My gf never goes more than 2 nights w/o me- I'll take the consistency 3 day trips provide- and the productivity- I fly more in 3 days than I used to in 4---- w/ consistent sleep schedules I get home- I don't waste the next day in zombie land-

the choice no legacy pilot has is to avoid the delays and inefficiency of schedules that the hub and spoke system provides.

I will say I wish I had seen more of the world from a flt deck- but I think after a bit, I'd choose to do what I'm doing now- I like the terminal environment. It's about pushing and pulling. And it still isn't close to as tough as 8 legs a day hubbing and spoking like it used to be-
I can't remember a 12 hour duty day... When 14+ used to be common

Then again it's a long career--- 787's are just around the corner...
