Perhaps these statements will interest you. Let me know if you are unfamiliar with any of these executives' names or positions. From the 4th quarter earnings conference call:

Dan McKenzie – Next Generation Equity Research
First off a housekeeping question. Given the Mesa filing, I am wondering how that relationship changes or not for US Airways. Are there cost improvements that potentially could be passed on that is not factored in the guidance or potentially further capacity cuts or capacity could be rationalized?
Derek Kerr
Just because Mesa filed that doesn’t give us automatically any new rights to cancel, lower the cost or reduce capacity. But it does create opportunity and we are working with Mesa to see what those opportunities are and see if we can find something that is mutually beneficial to the state and to us. At the moment our contract goes out through December of 2012. It is for 38 CRJ 900’s, ten CRJ 200’s, which are the 50 seaters so we can reduce those by two per year and six Dash 8 aircraft. Worst case, nothing changes for us. But it certainly creates potentially opportunity for us with regard to either capacity and/or costs.

So.

I would have bolded this line..."Just because Mesa filed that doesn’t give us automatically any new rights to cancel, lower the cost or reduce capacity. "

Automatically being the key word. The way I read it is if Mesa won't play "low-ball" with Airways then they can kiss the contract good-bye.

But keep smoking your hope dope.

That is exactly the point -- that they WILL low-ball, and get a contract extension.

If you're so concerned, wake up and ask your leadership to take a stand on this before it's too late.

Or just resign yourself to putting yet another "We are ALPA" sticker on your flight bag...

Oh, I'm sorry, did I convey a message of concern?

Allow me to take a moment to assure you that I'm in no way concerned about how JO will screw YOU in order to keep making a buck, in other words...enjoy your continued a$s raping and MESA SUCKS!

Has Coeling taken his hat off yet in 2010? I saw him in Herndon and he looked pissed off....is he like PSA Gestapo? Does anyone know what went down? Stanley out too?

Just because your management "low balls" does not necessarily reflect on the pilots. Almost by definition, any regional that wins a contract was the low baller. But that doesn't mean that the pilots are low ballers.

By the way, ALPA is working on trying to fix this whipsaw game. It is being done by the Fee For Departure Task Force.

Yeah, I saw the stickers. Maybe there is a logo pen set out there I can buy from the ALPA store?

"Taking it back" -- what a joke.

So you disagree with the concept? This is not going to happen overnight. Its going to take a long time just like the rest regulations have taken a long time to change.

I think "Taking it Back" implies that ALPA is going to take back all the dues it lost when US Airways Mainline got a divorce.

This statement implies that there is a due process in "taking it back," or some kind of logical outcome or solution as a result of concerted effort.

This is just an empty premise. Sounds great, but will never work.

ALPA cannot lead a concerted effort of pilot groups that have divergent interests, are in competition with each other, and sometimes are junior members even at their own negotiations.

A better solution is an independent union for each carrier, representing only that carrier, and affiliated with others like the http://www.capapilots.org/ model.
