She had the chance, until she blew the interview!!! Now she is stuck where she is, and bitter over it. hahahahaha Sucka.

I actually got the job and then told them thanks but no thanks. It was the best decision that I have ever made. I cannot imagine being stuck at a dead end airline like CAL and having to be a lowly gear jerker again for some fatso that is probably a scab. It was totally easy to get hired there in 2006 and 2007, as they were pretty much hiring anybody with a pulse and a license.

I am glad that I stayed all comfy in the captain's seat. I am a much better pilot from the left seat anyway.. ;) LOL

I am currently a 10 year Captain for a large regional. I just turned 31. My wife and I have been discussing options for the upcoming years. Is it worth leaving for a "legacy" ? What would you all do ? I am torn over staying or leaving

It's not a very difficult decision if you think logically and take the emotions out of it. What I mean is you're worrying about something that's not an option yet since you haven't been offered a job nor is anyone hiring. So what I would do is to get your apps and resume out to the "legacys" you want to fly for and if and when they offer you an interview then go. And only then if they offer you a job worry about it but in the mean time you're a long way from all that. And if you're not motivated to put the effort into the interviews well then you'll know you're not serious about moving on.

If one of your "options" is not Aviation and provides income...go for it!

Go the a major.
Career at any regional is an illusion.
Get ready and make sure you are in the front of the wave. Go to career fairs and network down to uncle Charlie's neighbor down the street from 10 moves ago.
Just don't go to CAL, you will regret it.

I don't know. My buds at Eagle with 25 years are doing alright. Slow, steady, never been furloughed, 100k/+yr, time off. Me; Furloughed, upgraded, downgraded, upgraded, downgraded, pissed off, quit, moved 7000mi. away, see family every 3mo................if I had stayed put.........?
It's all timing and luck.

Stop dealing with reality, this is flt info, you know you can not be accepted as a real pilot on flt info unless you say thge regionals suck wind. BTW Timing and luck have a much greater impact upon your career than do skill and desire.

How about staying at the regional, using that as an economic foundation, and starting your own side-business in some other industry ? This way you hang on to your quality of life ,don't have to take that initial pay cut and have an alternate source of income , not to mention a job; should your flying career tank ....Sort of like spreading the risk by expanding your options.

PHXFLYR:cool:

Best advice so far!!

If you do decide to go though, you have your age on your side.
