I don't think I'd make a decision about anything based on opinions of people I don't even know on a web board. But that's just me.

Read the posts above and below your post...You just don't get it. I can't tell you how many ASA pilots have come up to me recently and asked how to get rid of ALPA...I don't support that at this time because I like the ability to use DFR to keep DALPA in line...However ALPA support is the lowest I have ever seen it at ASA....I believe the current election results will improve things at ASA, but ALPA has a lot of damage control to do at ASA. These elections were a wakeup call to the status quo die hard ALPA chest thumpers.....The average pilot is tired of it....

ALPA is full of Rez O. Lewshuns....I've seen and heard them in Herndon and here at ASA...When you vote for a union, you are voting to have someone speak for you....As long as people like Rez O Lewshun are those people, don't expect much support....

Well said Joe. Another case in point: Had a crewmember sitting on the fence. Took him down to get some info (and a free sandwich). One the the OC guys shoved a card in his face and told him since he'd taken a sandwich he HAD to send in the card.

Guess what, he wasn't on the fence after that.

It's crap like that and "card check" that are giving unions a bad name.....The thugs just don't get it however....

Alot of pilots at Skywest are on the fence and need to be talked to in a mature manner and with intelligent persuation and not the used car saleman mentality. A big thing is that most of the ALPA cheerleaders at Skywest can't answer most questions asked of them and spew the same canned answers. I think alot of pilots are worried that the confrontational ALPA cheerleaders will negotiate with management in the same unnecessary way and defeat the whole purpose of having a union on the premises.

Look, I don't really care why the SkyWest drive failed. I had nothing to do with it, it's not a personal issue to me like it seems to be with you. I'd prefer if they were ALPA, but if they aren't, so be it. That's their decision, not mine. Luckily we at ASA have a framework to do what's best for us -- elections being one of the parts of that framework that show that the system is working.

My point is, to vote against the drive because you didn't like some of the people involved, especially some blowhards on a message board, is foolish.

I can tell you that is what has happened at many ALPA carriers including here at ASA...The same mentality these confrontrational ALPA cheerleaders have here and in person are the way they try and deal with management...There emotion and hatred of anything that isn't ALPA clouds their judgement.

We just had an election here at ASA that will change that because pilots are tired of it....

I think if ALPA is voted in, you will see bloodbath at Skywest. There are also extreme non-union, ALPA haters that are well known to everyone and there are quite afew. You know they will get no support from the MEC if they ever get into trouble with the company and need ALPA help. They will get thrown under the bus and rolled over and then backed up over again until they're deader then dead.

You are involved in the ASA MEC and the pilots have spoken...They are tired of the same old hardline chest thumping...Pilots voted against the drive because these same "blowhards on a message board" are the same people who are involved in ALPA leadership....INCLUDING YOU!

As a former ALPA cheerleader, and volunteer, I can tell you that even people who supported the union are thrown under the bus if you publically disagree with ALPA....That isn't allowed in ALPA...

I have yet to hear a reasoned and intelligent answer as to why Skywest, JB or VA pilots don't think they need to tow the line.... just like everyone else.

If there is a good reason why, let's hear it...

This news article is a perfect example... all the haters have come on and bash ALPA, but yet they can't even address the fact that they will benefit from ALPA working to put down this bill before DeMint can put it on the floor.

So instead of reading this news article and seeing the logic as to why they need to tow the line, just like everyone else, the freeloaders would rather complain that they got disprespected by an OC member or they got thier feelings hurt on a moniker messeage board.

When you guys are ready to be professional Air Line Pilots... the door is open... ball is in your court.....
