Nice job by Jeff Skiles and Prater! The president of ATA and RAA (Cohen) along with head of Emery Riddle full of shiz! Not impressed by FAA Babbit....his true colors starting to show through even more:(

Great comments by congressman Mcmahon at 2:17:30!

I like the fact that Congress still seems committed to over-riding the FAA if they don't get the 1500 ATP rule included under the ARC.

More talk of regulating commutes.

Click on link below. It will appear the meeting is over....be patient and it will spool up and get started. Right click in the middle of the video and select "zoom" all the way up to full screen if desired.

Good find. I wish I could record it to watch later.

Where was the commute discussion? What was being said by who?

That is not Mcmahon. That is Defazio. He is great. And knows his stuff. Prater and Skiles did great. Babbit is a little two faced.

Dr. Brady: Nice try but poor arguments. He said the pilots with under 500 hours outperformed the new hires with more time through 2006-2008. At that time many new hires had around 500 hours. That's just what it was, the ones with 1500 hours were the ones that probably got shot down at multiple interviews before an airline finally decided to take a chance on them. In many cases the guys that had that kind of time when everyone was hiring were the ones that really were not employable. I wonder what the results were if they broke it down between pilots with a 135 background and those without. CFII vs only a CFI.

Oh no, ERAU may lose its supply of new flight students that want to pay $53,300 for year 1. That sure would be too bad for someone. The link is below:

The 1000 hours after the first 500 is the same hour over and over again. Laughable.

Oh ok, just saw the name tag when he was talking and thought that was him. Yeah he did a nice job. I must admit I am always a skeptic when it comes to our government and our industry but it appears these guys in congress are in fact going to get this bill pushed through (its already apparently been written) regardless of what Babbitt (aka "two face"), ATA and the RAA do.

It makes me REALLY nervous when I hear the likes of Babbitt and the weenie from Emery Riddle spouting off about quality and not quantity.....it wouldn't take much for that lame argument to morph into ab initio which would be like the 13 death nail of this industry!

I like the opening speech when he says "if you think 1500 is to high, the your expectations are to low Mr. Babbit".

Its all about supply and demand. If we want to get our wages up, we need to cut the supply of low experience. There is a huge pipleline of 250-500 hour pilots. But 1500 hours (still low)will make it alot harder for pilot factories to put out replacement pilots that have taken the jobs at the real carriers.

DOH matters

Yesterday

When were these hearings?

On Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., the Subcommittee on Aviation met in room 2167 of the Rayburn House Office Building to receive testimony on the Federal Aviation Administration's Call to Action on Airline Safety and Pilot Training.
