This was not a CAL flight guys! Express Jet

Passengers don't know this and they don't care. As far as they are concerned it is CAL.

Larry and crew wrecked that airline. I only see negative CAL stories on the news anymore. What a shame.

It says Continental On the plane, on the ticket and the web site that it was purchased from.
If one of My subcontractor's F'd up the job I hired him to do. I think I would be the one to have to answer to my customer. Then deal wit the Sub later..
Express is just a sub. Right?????
Who carries the Liability if they Crash?
Who carries the Liability if Some one sues?
It is a great marketing Ploy for Continental.
Can I buy a ticket directly from Express? on tier web Site?
I bet not.
Therefore it Is A Continental Airlines Problem.
It is their Brand, Image and Fault. you get what you Pay for.

Poor unrealistic alternates are the problem of the dispatchers. The flight is made into wx at the upper end of the range of the a/c. How many times have you seen a "paper alternate" on the paperwork. The a/c probably could not hold enough fuel for a realistic alternate. The captain did just what the paperwork told him to do. I blame the person who put the alternate on the paperwork. Shurly they would know that services were minimal at best, but leagal to file.

I put the blame purely on CAL even though it was an XJET flight. Block hour pay cuts cause the company to furlough and schedule to the max pushing the limits of Duty while Cal dictates the Range of the a/c.

Shame on you CAL MANAGMENT! Lot of bad press latley. Time to take the money(even more money) and run.

And that's because some xenophobic pilots wouldn't allow the integration of their two seniority lists into one. A few years ago, they were one and the same airline. If the CAL pilots had wanted one list, they could have had it. Piece of cake, they're already one company. No, they don't want to be associated with small jet pilots, so they pushed to have it spun off, and now look at it. They bought 274 RJs, and that's the old news. Now Expressjet is being replaced by Colgan and Company. They had a chance to nip this in the bud, but now they're reduced the Neward base by 300 pilots while Colgan's block hours double. Shortsighted doesn't begin to describe it.

You are blaming the Dispatcher?..isnt the FINAL Authority on the PIC?...Unreal....it's always someones elses fault.

This is the fault of the CA. If they would not let them out at the terminal, have them push you back, and take them to the FBO. Have them get cabs and pick them up at the terminal the next morning.

I have done this before. Yes, you have to do the carpet dance, but guess what, it is better than making people sleep in a jet for nine hrs.

Operational control of the aircraft belongs to the dispatcher. It is their fault. The captain has emergency authority. I think i could have found a creative way to exercise emergency authority with 6 hours to think about it.

The Rochester airport manager said it was the decision of CAL dispatch in MSP to make the PAX stay on the plane.
The FBO thing is a GREAT idea!

This is EXACTLY why the Harvard MBA's who run this place love outsourcing, they wash their hands of most of the above. It is a complete sham and even Bob Crandall said it was bait and switch. For a while they had a pretty good product, not anymore. Their philosophy now is to try and suck less than everyone else, they are failing.

Did any one ask if he/she did it for flight time that means flight pay? An extra 6 hours can buy a lot of noodles on Express pilot pay.......

It was Express Jet!! you know Captain Pocono, Express jet!

Actually, I think Express jet does a great job, they picked a bad alternate.

I agree, CAL should take more responsibility, but this happened at a whole different airline.

got it?

Has a Dispatcher...this is the dispatchers fault..plain and simple. In a weather situation and having dispatched this flight on a CRJ and EMB145LR in a weather situation. Bump passengers, add hold fuel and either OMA or DSM both CO station has the alternate..easy

I see it everyday, a p*ss poor alternate, because the dispatcher did not want to bump passengers
