XJT trying to Scam pilots?

My buddy said he has heard of a couple of pilots, maybe former, getting big bills from the company for bogus charges?

Anyone heard of this or had this happen?

If so, that sucks.

I've heard of a few guys getting some old bills finally catching up with them after a few years. Don't know if they're bogus or not. It might be that the accounting dept has employed a new person to go over the books and make sure things are all in order. I know at least one guy's been gone from here for several years and is only now finding out that he owes money. The only really crappy part is that apparently he wasn't even given a chance to pay the company but some of the debts went straight to a collection agency, which may adversely affect peoples credit.

Talk to a lawyer-they have to jump thru some very specific hoops to send stuf to collections and/or to ding your credit. If they are not very careful, they could get their butts sued off!

It is one thing to go after former employees that fail to turn in manuals or pass travel that was delayed by Continental. However send a certified letter first if not then use collections. Going after the furloughs is just plain wrong!!!

It is not just furloughed pilots but all former pilots they are going after. I resigned there in 2007 and have also been contacted by the collection agency. XJT claims I owe them money for uniforms purchased through payroll deduct in 2000. Yup, nine years ago...

My advice is this: Before you give the collection agency anything ask for documentation. If it cannot be provided (such as in my case) they cannot legally report you to a credit bureau. Next, if they can supply documentation, ask them if this has already, or will be, reported to credit bureaus. If it already has I would not give them anything. What is the point? You have already been damaged. Paying it will not get it off of your credit. Next, if it is legitimate and it has not or will not be reported then try to settle it for about half of what you owe. They will probably take that deal.

I think this situation is a fine example of the disturbing lack of professionalism that XJT is rapidly becoming know for throughout the industry. No thought was put into how this would actually affect the people they are going after. If you do not work there anymore I would consider yourself very, very fortunate.

You can report anything you want to the agency-you can state that some poor pilot owes you Billions, but my point was pretty much this:

The facts have to be correct, the documents must be accurate notarized, and there could be a statute involved. The fact that the company acted as "creditor" and you left (or were involuntarily furloughed) must be covered in the contract.

If any of these (and many more) items were overlooked, you can just wait until the screw up your credit, and you will have one hell of a good lawsuit!

-If XJT was as sloppy as many regionals are with the drafting of these contracts (they probably didn't even use a lawyer-if they are half as stupid as mgmt. at many regionals) and the recordkeeping involved, they may very well have left themselves open to a huge judgement. Just let them hit your credit, if the don't have their ducks in a row!

-Talk to a good lawyer-especially if you were furloughed (it doesn't seem like these guys should have to pay.) It would probably be well worth paying for a couple of hours to review this contract.

I flew with an XJT furloughee this weekend, he was getting hit up by the collection agency as well. What a crock of $*it.

They managed to find the right place to send the furlough notice, but they can't muster the strength to even send you a bill!!! What a $h*t-bag company.

It's actually going on about 2 years now. The way the Branded/Delcon crews were treated from it's inception was pretty pathetic on the part of management.

Not true most suck and are continuing to suck harder every day but I have been told of a time where XJT was quite the quality company to work for, its too bad the route they have gone down the past 2 years.

DJD- Yea I was part of the LAX/Branded operation before it started going down hill and although I didn't have as many problems with the company as some others did we were definitely treated as the red-headed step children. Oh well, if I close my eyes and think hard enough I can picture myself back in SAN with great crews, food, drink, and QOL but then I open them back up and I'm in Lindy waiting for a gate and missing my commute lol.

Then I pretend I'm going on the long SFO/SEA/SAN/SJC/LAS/DEN/LAS/GEG/EUG/PDX/LTO/MZT overnite or sitting LC RV on the beach in Manhattan or hitting up El Torrito Taco Tuesday in Redondo.

Imagine the shock and horror when I'm ending up on the 8-10 hour BRO/HRL/LBB/AMA/ORF/ROC/MFE/MAF/ELP/BJX/PBC/JAN.......you get the idea.

I don't think anyone is trying to avoid paying anything they owe. I think the point is that when one resigns or gets furloughed from an airline it is not an instantaneous event. Notices have to be given and it takes several months from your exit date to finish getting paid. That is adequate time for payroll to determine if you owe them anything or not. Having the payroll department fail at their duties should not result in you being reported to a collection agency.

The companies should be paying for this, not some underpaid RJ FO! My advice, don't pay the bill!! Some scumbag carrier tried pulling this on me and they didn't get 1 red cent!!! They will give up after a while. And they aren't going to pay $1,000 plus dollars on lawyers to take you to court.

Not close to industry leading in this department. They only reimburse $150/year for a maximum of $450.

XJT is really going down the tubes. While I was there, I had problem after problem after problem...and so on, with the payroll dept. Underpaid many times. Double payroll deducted for uniforms, ie they claimed I never paid for it, but I had the check stubs to prove it. Yet they couldn't look in their own system and track it?! WTF. Taxes deducted wrongly. Plus they are very difficult to get a hold of making it even all the more stressful to get them to correct their errors. What a disgrace. Glad I'm out of there.

Take those uniforms and fold them neatly. take an appropriately sized box, and put a garbage bag in the box opened up. Place the uniforms in the box, in the opened garbage bag. Go to DEN "B" concourse, hit QueBueno for a chorizo burrito, on the way home have a double dose of your favorite laxitive. Dispense a$$ pudding into the box/garbage bag on the uniforms, wipe with said tie and neatly place the hat on top of the steaming pudding pile. Securely zip tie the garbage bag and secure the box. UPS/FedEx said box to former employers payroll dept.
Have a good nights sleep with a freshly cleansed colon.

That sucks. However, by definition, it is not a scam. If you don't like their uniform policy, why take a job with them?
