I just got that e-mail.... Looks like all the upper mgmt is going around to have some sort of "gabby-gab" with everyone-this time not just the pilots.

-I think most people can recall what happened the last time a few "meetings" like this occured.....

yep. we were bought by Skywest and its done nothing but get better since.

Dude, quit being such a pinhead. You're probably a decent guy/girl, but you've been making an idiot of yourself on here a lot lately...take a break.

If by "better" you mean furloughs and a huge across-the board pay-cut, I see your point!

Have you even stopped to notice what the lines are blocked to lately? Wallet feeling a little lighter? Or are you just one of those trust-fund babies who work here for "fun" and couldn't care less?

-Keeps getting better all the time-as long as you don't need money!

furloughs could easily have been much deeper, hence the lower line credits.

If I have to suffer through a few months of lower line credit to keep more pilots working, so be it. I'll go out less often and enjoy my extra time off with my family.

If you're running that short on money, I suggest you go out and get a PT job.

In case you didn't know, our jobs are totally dependant on Mainline Delta and the decisions they make. If you're not willing to live by those terms, maybe you should seek employment elsewhere.
You obviously were not around in the days before Skywest ran ASA. Brad and the gang have done an outstanding job in a pretty tough environment so far. Despite their (and our) best efforts, things may well get worse before they get better for all of us (Mainline included). I sure hope not.

I don't know how long you've been in the airline business but, its pretty volatile and getting worse all the time. Pilots are notoriously self-centered and will stab you in the back to get another nickle....again, maybe this isn't for you. There's no shame in it, just move on if you can't deal.

But stop being such a juvenile dork. At least for a little while.

I guess we will see on the 20th how big a dork I am.... Honestly, I would much rather be wrong about this one. I would rather be the biggest dork toolster on earth than to have my suspicions on this one come true!

Your perspective is interesting-you assume I have been at this place for a short time, and you further assume that you have so much more experience than me.... Maybe so-maybe not...

I do know a little bit about the airline industry-I got in during the "bad times" back in the day when it seemed like all the airlines (like Eastern and PanAm) were all going tits-up (and for perspective-the current times are far, far worse.....)

I agree that the industry is crappy right now, and I also agree that Skywest has made some great improvements to our airline. I also wholeheartedly agree that we are at the mercy of mgmt. over at DAL which has questionable motives....

Some things never change. One thing that never changes at airlines is the fact that mgmt. (be they good or bad in anyone's opinion) never has these sort of meetings for fun and entertainment-something bad is always afoot when one of these meetings happens.

-Hate to always be a "sky-is-falling" voice, but it sure seems that way these days.

I get the impression that this may be a meeting that is not announcing reductions.

If you consider that it was put out by the communications person, and it is written in a tone of please come join us!, I think it may just be Brad doing some cheer leading, like a person in his position should be.

I have no doubt he will leave the door open for future cuts, but he is in touch with how moral is slumping as a whole, and probably wants to do some repair.

-I really hope so.... First time for everything...

If I were guessing but I would say this is another possible 2 for 1 announcement. I think there are more -900's coming but with it a reduction in -200's. Just my thoughts.

New JFK base opening July 1.

I'd say it's more likely than possible.
It sucks to be losing airframes 2 for 1, but it'd suck worse 2-0. And we all (the ones of us in touch with reality, anyway) know its inevitable that 50's will be retired and bigger RJs will take their place.

My crystal balls say that xjet will do some UAL flying out of IAD for a short time THEN back fill with the 20 crjs from ASA starting august next year.

When ASA announced the 900s they didn't wait for meetings, they did it over the company website. When they furloughed, they did announce it on the website but followed through with meetings. They need morale to improve so they wouldn't wait any longer than they need to if they announced something good...

After the recent rate 'reset', are we even profitable?

Important to remember: We are a business, and business exists to make a profit.

Personally, my crystal ball tells me that it's time to choose our battles wisely.

Can a DCI carrier receive any more >50 seat jets? I thought scope was maxed out and no more large RJ's can be farmed out. Not flaming just an honest question.

Cause they can't tell us before it's publicly announced, and companies don't put out press releases over the weekend :)

My guess: an order of 20 ATR72-500s

That would be sweet! But, my guess is no new aircraft of any type coming, nor any homes for the 20 50's we're losing.

My guess is just a simple Rah-Rah, go team....keep up the good work, blah blah blah. Thanks for coming.

We'll see.............

I guess you didn't listen to the 4th quarter conference call.

This press release is foretelling!

http://www.skywest.com/skywinc/invest/investor_releases/2009/April/Q1-2009-Earnings-Address.pdf

Townhall Meeting Agenda

1. There will be no performance bonus.
2. There will be plenty of doom and gloom.
3. We have to get our costs down.
4. We have to be competitive.

I hear the whistle blowing,
It's coming down the track,
Some call it contract concessions,
The meetings are about givebacks!

First, with all the MTC problems, grounding of airplanes, and other WX related cancellations, they are going to forewarn you that there will be no performance bonus. Most likely, there may be a LOSS for the quarter(about $7million according to the press release.) Keep in mind, that most of these cancellations are NON--reoccurring(one-time.) Apparently, there were 750 more cancellations this quarter than usual--due to the MTC issue. Is this a mangagement mistake?

Also, based on some of the information that has been floating around, their Fee for Departure "Rates" have been reset by the Mainline under their agreements. The reduction percentage has not been been defined, but in this recent press release, it was stated that Skywest, INC, would see a $5 million decrease in consolidated revenues for the quarter. This total, about $5 million per quarter, would affect Inc. in whole since they report in Consolidated Reports. However, on an airline basis, it affects revenues more at ASA since 100% of the flying is for Delta, where Skywest has only about 40%-50% of Delta flying.

What's coming? At some point, they will use this "opportunity" to ask for concessions. They will label it something different, but that is what it will be! Hang on to your pocketbook!

1. They will want PBS for free! about a $10 million savings.
2. They will want some other things that will affect your pocketbook.

Are you ready for the Sales Job? It's coming!
