Ok, everyone chime in with what our new compensation package will look like. Is it up? Is it down? Will it "align with industry standards"?

You are getting paid to fly....just be happy about that. There are plenty of people out there who don't even have that luxury.

I would implore everyone who comments to keep percpective and not brag, gloat, moan and groan about what you are getting paid, when there are so many people on the streets right now.

Not saying you should let companies rip you off, but just try and keep a perspective.

If it was up to people like you, we'd still be a British colony.

"Come on, guys! Why do you wanna rebel against England? Come on! So we pay taxes but can't vote. So what? You know how many people would love to be royal subjects? A bunch!"

It's not just about getting "paid to fly." It's about feeling like you have a modicum of control over what gets done to you and how it gets done. That counts for a lot.

I hate to tell you this Dooker, but even if we had a union on property, we would still not be in control. The only control you have is what you do with your life.

I hate to tell you this, but that kind of apathy has gotten us where we are right now. If the controller vectored you toward a thunderstorm, would you just keep right on trucking, or would you divert?

You have a lot more control in life if you sieze it, rather than expect it to be handed over.

I'm not saying a union is a panacea--look at all the guys at the regionals who can't stand theirs. But it would at least allow us a seat at the table.

Right now, the company can pretty much do whatever it wants ("change band," anyone? Enhanced per diem? Oh-and let's revisit your pay, while we're at it) with impunity, because they know we can't take concerted action to oppose it.

A union is only as strong as the leadership it votes in..Thats why NJ has a strong position at the Table and Flops does not. If you guys go union make sure you get leaders that are not afraid to stand up and fight for you.

If you want to work for free, go be a candy striper. A union would not solve all the problems, but at least we would have a contract. No more involuntary pay cuts/reductions, furlough clause, guaranteed recall rights versus just hoping they like you enough to call you back. Fred Reid is a bold faced liar. He's only using this bad economy as a backdrop to execute his agenda. Just look at his past history. The only thing this man does is cut and degrade the profession. If we don't come together soon, before you know it, we'll be a low rate commuter airline.
