For those of us who work in OCC, but not on the crew side, and are new to DL, what is Rolling Thunder?
Just please dont go UA AFA's CHAOS!
Don't guess about what is going to happen. Don't guess if I am X on a certain airplane and they do this, then I will be pay protected. Too many ifs for me. I like driving to work and and if possible having a schedule.
Make sure your displacement is involuntary. You do not want to get stuck on an A/C for two years. The bloodbath is not even close to being over.
Good luck in your decisions.
So much uncertainty. I am MD'ing 777, ER, 767, then 737 in all applicable bases starting with NYC (easiest commute.)
At least if I do get displaced to the 88 I will get full pay protection.
That being said I don't think everyone hired in 07-08 will get the 88 as some here are saying. There are plenty of bubbas who will bid QOL in the 88 in ATL or westerners who will bid/stay 88 in SLC.
Now that the AE is out, when will everyone find out if they are going to be displaced? Just trying to figure out this AE process.
Our APA process allows a little more sharp shooting on positions, but alas, change is exactly what it is, change and I am just trying to understand the process.
Thanks
Anyone else going to bed at night and having MD88 flashbacks? I've got a really hot wife, but just when things get started I have a recall of poles and ladders or brake chatter....
I think I am already liking our APA system much better. For one, there is a seat lock but you can change bases monthly if you have the seniority and in many cases you don't need much.. I have a couple friends in Texas on the A320 who change often between DTW, MSP and MEM. They switch things up to make commuting easier as NW switches Compass/Pinnacle with mainline flights in and out of their home towns. And they like Tennessee in the winter, Minnesota in the summer.
Our APA system at Delta would be not a good system but a great system. Imagine being able to be awarded a permanent or temporary position within an airline that had five or more base options for certain aircraft on a monthly basis.
Perhaps there some hidden benefits to the DL AE system that I haven't seen.

I am NYC 88 as a 2000 hire, desperately attempting to get ANYTHING other than my current position in NY...
What about the fact that you get to a base where you live and someone senior to you comes bopping in and out changing what you can hold every month?
