Boo f'ing hoo. Your average Sailor/Marine is making it happen on $3k/month or less. That kind of pay is an E-5 or better as well. I've got troops bringing home $600/week feeding two kids and a wife. That's including housing allowance, BAS, etc.

By my estimation you've got absolutely no education on the argument you're trying to make.

What are you saying SIG600? That we shouldn't aspire to making a decent living? That we should be happy we're not living in a trailer/our parent's basement? Nobody is being greedy by demanding a professional salary for a professional's job. By the way $107k year in New York City is not "good" pay, it is survivable but you will never own property or live an upper middle class lifestyle on that pay.

So some think that senior captains should be making nearly $1million/yr, when factoring inflation? That is probably not going to happen .. ever, and no airline could afford that, and not go into bankruptcy a few years down the road.

If you look at what anybody was making, in the 70's, nobody has kept up with inflation. Pilots seem to always think they are alone in this fight. 95%+ of working Americans, pilot, or not make less than six figures, and struggle to get by.

I have this hard time understanding why so many pilots seem to have this attitude of, "how dare someone make more than me, I'm an airline pilot". There will always be people who make more than you, and there will always be people who make less.

Fightt for better pay, etc., but some people need to get off of their high horse. You are a pilot. It is a job. It doesn't make anybody special, because they can fly an airplane.

......Coming from a C-150 driver. Maybe when you start flying professionally and understand the responsibility, accountability and experience required from years of work you will understand why our profession should be compensated appropriately. Why does a neurosurgeon make more than a GP? Why does a partner at a law firm make more than an associate? Answer those and you might start to understand. I don't think anyone is saying a capt should make $1 million or anywhere close to it. I think most captains would be happy making around $200K, have good work rules and treated respectfully by management.

Dude,
You crack me up. I think you have pulled off the longest running flame on this board. Seems like you did not get enough attention as a child. Always trying to get that negative reaction.

I think you are drunk again. I don't flame on this website but simply speak my mind and some folks don't agree. That is ok. Professional aviators such yourself and me can discuss these issues and disagree.
I'll say it again: "I am a proud airline professional, willing to work for a fair wage and support my mangaement team." There is nothing wrong with that my friend. Just as I am proud to wear my hat, I am proud of my wage and the skill that earns it.

I wish I were drunk again but alas I am not. Dude, you flame constantly. Don't worry, I get your humor and laugh each time I read one of your posts. They are funny! You make the most outrageous statements to get a reaction. Its common in those that seek attention. So, go ahead, wear your hat and flame away! I find it funny and pathetic all at the same time. Have a good one and keep the laughs coming!

"My dog could turn on an autopilot."

We don't get paid only for the times when the sky is blue, winds are fair, and the autopilot works. We earn every penny we get for the times when the sky is red on the radar, the field is 200 1/2 or less with heavy rain and crosswinds, the autopilot doesn't work, and number one engine is on vacation.

Part of the reason pilot pay is so low is that there's always some jerkoff comparing airline pay to some non-linear barometer. I've met your ilk before:

Newbie McPencilneck: "Geez, this job is swell! We get to sleep in real beds and no one's shooting at us! I can't believe they're paying me for this!"

Ty: "That's not really a valid point of reference. This job is what you suffered all those years for. You don't want to spend the rest of your life in sh!tholes and flying for dog biscuits".

Newbie:

So, while I appreciate your military service, let me buy you a nice big warm cup of STFU, fool.

Ty
