Another Comair rumor - 80 Airplanes

I heard Comair's fleet will go down to 80 aircraft over the course of 2009. F/As with 6 years or more seniority can expect to be furloughed if that happens, so I was told. I know most here who read are pilots but just thought I'd post this to see what you think.

What is the actual staffing model they use? Meaning, how many crews per airplane? Or perhaps I should ask, do they use a staffing model at all?

This is the link to Planemart's listing. It has the the serial numbers of the aircraft in question and the name of the contact at Delta Airlines. Each serial number is an active aircraft in the Comair fleet. You can verify each tail number here. Or you can just search that site for each individual tail number.

A flight attendant. It's just a rumor though. She had nothing to back it up.

Yes, we do have a min aircraft number in our contract. Having said that, I do not know what our "min" number is, but DL and OH haven't been bashful about violating the contract in many ways for quite some time.... so a significant fleet reduction doesn't come as a surprise to me.

Comair doesn't give a damn about contracts or keeping thier word, look at what happened in the BK, ,Delta said if Comair reduced thier cost, they would get more flying. Well it didn't happen, and the airline is going to ground service only ops. Can't back that last statement up, but a manager that was pissed off and subsequently terminated said it was going to happen.

In one word, nothing. They are still in a pissing match with mgt on our eMisery scheduling program... They wouldn't even talk about furlough mitigation unless they agreed to fix eMaestro and a list of other items.

Our MEC is so myopic it makes me sick. In these times, you have to pick and choose your battles... and frankly being as short-sighted as they are right now, they are going to be an instrumental catalyst in driving OH flying into non-existance.

I was so mad when I got furloughed and never thought I would say this, but I am actually glad I got put out on the street and was able to find another job. Even if things were to work out, upgrade is 10+ years away if ever...

-Comair cruises at a slower speed using PPAS (sp?) to save DAL fuel money.
-Comair has some APU usage policy to save more fuel money and mx cost
-Some ontime perfomance to keep up the Delta brand name.
all to save Delta more money and to make them a better product, only to furlough 300+ pilots????

How much in concessions did Comair guys give last year? $14-18mil???? and this is how Comair guys are repaid?
Just curious, what does your union have to say about this?

I was so mad when I got furloughed and never thought I would say this, but I am actually glad I got put out on the street and was able to find another job. Even if things were to work out, upgrade is 10+ years away if ever...
