What!!! ALPA doesnt decide wether you strike or not its the pilots.

Actually, ALPA has a big say in it, both directly and indirectly. You can huff, puff and have 100% strike vote. Along comes ALPA National with their lawyers who will "convince" you that striking is not in your best interests.

As labbats said... 'different story, same ending' is right.

Umm NO, they cannot stop you for striking its up to the pilot group.

They can "convince" you to not strike... of course, the ultimate decision is up to the pilot group.

Show me a pilot group that told an ALPA lawyer to f**k off and go against his "convincing." Hell, I'm embarrassed to say instead of going out with some dignity when my airline shut down, thanks to ALPA, we had pilots showing up to fly cargo for free. Hell, ALPA even took out an ad praising those pilots. All that was despite the pilot group decision to strike cargo.

Thank you ALPA National!

They can try.

The AirTran pilots.

Our chief negotiating legal counsel in D.C. last year was Seth Rosen, who was ALPA for many, many years, came recommended by them, and suggested that we accept T.A.'s 1 and 2 last year.

The pilot group soundly rejected his opinion, and rejected the T.A.'s.

Any more questions...? ;)

Outstanding!! But then again - Airtran isn't ALPA either. Let's hope the Airtran pilots don't blink because the stakes just got bigger with this whole strike threat.

I really want to be proven wrong on this... Stay strong NPA!

Lots of pilot groups have done this. ACA and TSA are two recent examples. In fact, the ACA Master Chairman that told ALPA Legal to pound sand is currently working here. ALPA attorneys are just like every other attorney: they are extremely cautious and will always try to get you to take the safe bet. Smart leaders know when to listen and when not to. Most ALPA MECs are smart enough to discern the difference.

Having come from a ALPA union I can say without a doubt they have some awesome Attorneys - Harvard or Yale grads with top credentials no Sara Palins in that bunch..........Their pay is in the 200k range and they usually represent 1 to 2 airlines. We all know the history of NPA's current attorney.

I bet you could count on one hand the number of Harvard or Yale law grads that are making 200k. Dont believe everything you hear.

opps your right many of the Attorney's there make over 300k..With that kind of money you can retain some significant skill.

I don't know about the rest of them, but I've worked with this guy personally and he's worth every penny ALPA pays him.

Agreed. I know many of the other guys also, and they're all worth every penny. ALPA has a great legal team and senior staff.
