yes but neither have been around for 70ish years or have as many flights.

I don't hear many controllers calling the USAir flights "Allegheny". They'll adapt - Charles Darwin promised.

(Though I doubt Dartwin would have ever predicted the direction the USAir pilots have gone)

i'm confident that professionals who control high speed heavy machinery at lofty altitudes will somehow adjust to this recent change in air traffic terminology. same for our nation's top notch ATC workers.

at least i can decipher which airplane to follow with a UsAir paintjob now that they are all known as 'Cactus'.

btw: UsAir's newest paintscheme is my favorite domestic carrier livery. really looks sharp.

This is what happens when one airline bails out another. Nobody is complaining that American did not keep the TWA call sign. The only thing that is constant in life is change. Deal with it!

The BTA code came from Britt Air - a HUF-based regional. The BTA certificate is what ExpressJet originally operated under.

Better than Jetlink calling themself "Britt Air" on the radio, just because their 3-letter is BTA...

At the time it was Expressjet, operating as Continental Express, under the Britt certificate, with a jetlink call sign, owned by Continental.

In reality the west at the time the decision was made didn't really care. Parker handed the ops. over to the East(dumb dumb dumb) and in return had the gaul to say, "Hey don't worry the west gets to keep the call sign and Coke". It's about the only thing the West got and I'm sure they don't want to give it up. Imagine a divorce judge handing over everything to the ex except the gear shift knob from your truck. The house, the boat, the kids, all her's. What really sucks is that the ex came into the relationship with no job and bad credit. Did I mention she's ugly to boot.
