100 jets is a lot to park in six months. Does anyone think that maybe there is an acquisition that may be taking place?
I am not trying to flame here, but Jet Blue would fit the puzzle quite nicely. A320's and their founder walked away a few months ago.
I am sure that Lufthansa would help foot the bill for the merger.

You're quite right about the above statement, but I'm wondering if Pan Am Sh!t on thousands of qualified applicants during the hiring process, while hiring some of the most incompetent dou che bags in aviation because of their skin color or the size of the VA J J. How many PFO's does united have?

I am sure pan am messed over qualified applicants since they had trouble explaining many of their 707 accidents that involved sub-standard crews.

Left a good paying job for my "dream job" at United, just got my airbus type yesterday and now I have to plan for furlough. What a screwed up industry we are all in. What good will my new airbus type do for me when all these carriers are cutting flights and no jobs will be available? Being in the bottom 25 at United, probably won't be called back for 3 years. Got furloughed after 9-11 and was 500 from the bottom. Took 5 years to get the initial call back.

Obviously with the CAL announcement 24 hours after United, there is something going on. This is not just at United and I feel there is something deeper in the works....probably related to a 100 seat market in the end, and an alliance at least.

I'd venture to say that you are looking at DOH's around Mar 99 to the present. I was hired there Nov 98 and I would have approx 1900 below me. I ascertained this info from my stick bud who was furloughed with me back in 2003. He returned to UAL a few years ago, I bypassed and eventually resigned in 2007. He told me of at least 1000 furloughs a few weeks ago with his source being the ORD flight office. This was 2 weeks ago. Looks like they weren't making it up,

A United friend of mine said in the ORD crew lounge there is a posting from a UAL 777 crewmember (Capt or FO? Don't know) who had Tilton on one of his ORD--FRA flights lately. He stated point blank that UAL and CAL were going to trim down their fleets, integrate an IT system together while doing the "code share", and then try to merge again in 2 years if oil is lower.

Nobody would support DOH as USCABA views it. Sorry but a 20 year reserve FO isn't worth anything more than what it is. Those guys are on crack and are sinking fast.

I was just adding to the point being made that "only ALPA doesn't support DOH" when in fact any real pilot's union (APA SWAPA as well as ALPA) would not support USAPA's view of the world.
These guys have shot themselves in the foot so bad it's ridiculous. They have proven to the world that outside of the cockpit, pilot's need adult supervision, not all of course, but enough to blow any credibility our profession may think they had.
