Also they are still doing that preferential hiring for guys from ATA and Kittyhawk.

I think a small percentage, probably around 99.9%.

Yes, and I don't know, but K4 is IBT and we fly out of CONUS. IBT has about 1.2 plus million members to lean on if things get bad, plus the 32 in Slugger they gave me when I signed up.

Having been both ALPA and IBT my opinion is that IBT negotiates better contracts and ALPA provides better pilot representation when needed. IBT's dues assesment are 25% higher. I think an ALPA carrier would do better in a seniority merge since they represent the most pilot groups. ALPA, IBT, and In-house union all have prosand cons, but they are all better than nothing, and pilot unity goes a lot farther than picking the "correct" union. The energy spent decertifying and switching can be much better spent.

The energy spent in this instance will pay for itself in the long run, we are not welcome at ALPA and that is a fact. The sooner we join the TEAMSTERS the better.

Of course there are always exceptions and I admit I am not familiar with the situation at Atlas. Sorry if I came across as too righteous. I'd be intersted to know reasons for the divorce if you want to post or pm. Welcome to the IBT!

IBT's dues assesment are 25% higher.

Our IBT dues are 1.56% or so of our monthly guarantee. I seem to remember when I was with an ALPA carrier that the rate then was closer to 2%. How are the IBT's dues higher?
