Heard from one of their employees that it's happening either tonight or tomorrow. That was quick.

Skybus Airlines, a Columbus carrier that excited central Ohio travelers with its $10 fares, is calling it quits.
The news came quickly today, with the airline planning to announce at 9:30 p.m. that it will no longer be in business Saturday.
After today, all flights are canceled.
Those holding tickets for future flights are advised to contact their credit card companies about obtaining refunds.
Skybus is not providing alternate transportation. Those who purchased trip insurance within the last month should make any claims through the Skybus insurance provider, AIG TravelGuard. The policy that went into effect in early March covers airline-caused cancellations; the previous policy did not.
As of today, Skybus was making 80 daily flights to 15 cities around the U.S. It made its first flight from its home base at Port Columbus on May 22 of last year and opened a second base in Greensboro, N.C. in January.
Skybus has approximately 450 employees. Of those, 350 are based in Columbus, with the remainder in Greensboro.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Hopefully this will finally be the end to all these ultra-low-cost carriers. Heres hoping that investors will say away once and for all.

Best news I've heard in a long time...

One down, one more to go...

Who the F*** would leave netjets for skybus? Good lord. You shouldn't be allowed to keep your medical with those decision making abilities.

We did have a few tools that had Big airplane itis and just had to go fly a bus. It was just prior to the new contract. Now 1st year FO pay on the 18 day is more then skybus capt.

This is a special interview we might do for them if they want back in. Answer wrong and away you go in shame :pimp:

What about all the guys that went there that were saying, "need to do it to put food on the table" (while others were hiring). Bet their feeling like that line wasn't the right one to use. Now you lost time at another airline, and all the while were not making crap. Bye Bye.

Well since you skybus dorks already have the uniform why not apply at the US Park service monday? :smash:

What kind of pathetic losers would gloat about the loss of one's career and income. You may not like the concept of Skybus, but a lot of good people got horrible news this week. There are a lot of good people hurting out there and the job market has gone from bad to worse.

So instead of gloating and high fiving each other, how about a little respect and a little humble pie. You never know who is next.....

In disgust,

A350, no Skybus pilot had any respect for any of us. Now that is humbling.

Bako:

Say that to a Southwest pilot from the 70's.....

Timing is everything....the Skybus guys didn't have that luxury nor the time to get their wages up.

You shouldn't be happy.....the next job that is lost may be yours.

A350...
I disagree. I knew of a couple of pilots who went over there. They did that AFTER going to GoJet. Their goal was not about being on the begining of a good thing. They merely cared about themselves and saw this as a way to get into a left seat and hope for the best.

I will be requesting that my company NOT give them preferrential interviewing, as we will be doing to ATA and Aloha pilots.

From day one, this was a plan for some of the top managers to make money and bail. Skybus was not set to be a "career" airline. I for one am glad to see them gone. Now the industry can realign itself. $10 tickets is (was) a gimick.. not a business plan.

Is it true that some TSA guys that were the first at GoJet went to SkyBus? (Like a couple of flight managers?)

I am currently listening in my armchair with U2s "Beautiful Day" cranked up.........

And yes there were more than a few former GoJet pilots over there - including DT......

How much those "shares" worth again?!

Guess I gotta change my signature now........glad to see the end of this nightmare of a company.
