A friend of mine just received a call from AirTran this morning saying that his interview is now postponed.

He was scheduled to interview on March 27th.

I heard from a friend in the Training Dept. that classes slowing one in april and one in June or July.

he was making $150k+ as a first officer, right?

Oh, he was a captain. And now he's got a better concessionary contract than any contract you will ever have...if you ever get one.

Who exactly made the "dumb move?"
Ohhh, poor jke got banned! About damned time!

Care to enlighten us why??

The guy may see or want something you don't....Airtran may not be for him, that doesn't make him dumb....

Still listening though......do tell!!!

(chum's in the water, let's see if PCL will bite)
From making $150k/yr as a reasonably high up line holder to $45k on reserve at the bottom of a seniority list that could see a merger just as the recession is about to hit? Sorry, I'm not seeing a smart move here.

I agree, way overdue!
Probably will be back as most of the trolls do, like the reincarnated chuck yogurt, lawman, einstein, now 400ahole, or the ever famous 32lt10. They just live for the flame. Must have a dull family life.

Last summer, I had a 17 year Delta 767-300 International FO on my jumpseat. He said he could have been a very junior reserve MD-80 Captain in New York but didn't want it. 17 years seniority got him a decent quality of life, but only making about $9,000 a month. Our 10 year captain who left for Delta (who was living in base with 16+ days off a month) could easily pull $13,000 a month and even more if he wanted it (not including the $1400 a month to his "B" fund).

I am not sure I am following your logic but I think the $13,000 a month at 10 years is much better than $9,000 at 17 years for equivalent quality of life.

You've got to be kidding me. Bragging about your 13k a month. Hell when I was a first officer in 2002 I made that. You LCC drivers forget it always comes down to the lowest common denominator. Let me ask you this what were AAI pilots making in 1996?? You'll never understand. By the way...the hotels you stay at over there are plain awful and disgracreful. And yet you put up with it. You have no contract it's been expired for over 3 years. To say UAL or any other legacy brought down the industry is criminal...just stare at the mirror and you'll find who the criminal is.

This isn't 2002. What are you making now?

We didn't work here in 1996. According to the latest seniority list:

93.9% of our pilots didn't work here in 1996
70.0% of our pilots didn't work here when the current contract was signed
69.0% of our pilots didn't work here until after 9/11

You have a legitimate beef with the LCC pilots that signed crappy contracts or had no unions prior to 9/11. Their contracts were responsible for the level of concessions that you had to take post-9/11. But most of us at these carriers now had nothing to do with negotiating and agreeing to those crappy contracts. We came to these carriers after 9/11 when the legacy contract were already brought down to an even level with the LCC contracts.
By the way...the hotels you stay at over there are plain awful and disgracreful.
I've shared hotel vans with plenty of UAL crews lately. You don't really have room to talk, apparently.
You have no contract it's been expired for over 3 years.
Contracts under the RLA don't expire. They become amendable. We've turned down two TAs that we didn't find to be to our liking. Let's see if you do the same, or if you roll over again.

For all of those still interested in the original thread topic, classes for 28 April, 30 June and July are all postponed UFN, as confirmed by HR today. No word on when classes will resume. Original class date will determine your ranking when it comes to starting up classes again.

I sure hope this will not drag on too long. Don't want to be looking for a temporary job.

We can thank Saudi Arabia and Chavez!!! Oil is plentiful, they're just a bunch of greedy(Saudis), psycho(Chavez) bastards. Tiime to open up the oil fields in the North!

I got the same exact info.

Glad you are going to show use all how it's done in 2010....Good luck in that glass house of yours!

Some say the hotel thing is a way to divert the pilots from what really matters in negotiations! (not that hotels don't)

dont know. heard he didnt like the hotels.
ROFLMAO! :D

For those who don't know, YL is who they're talking about; he was the hotel committee chairman and hotels have been taking a HUGE nosedive in quality. Not that there's much he can do, the current hotel language (and the new language in both T.A.'s) gives us NO RECOURSE to change anything, except to beg (which you can see how THAT has worked).

Yves is a great guy, I was in his crashpad, and I can only imagine he's wondering now if he made the wrong move with the slow-down in DAL hiring.

It's not just the hotels, it's EVERYTHING. SAP I and II, the new reserve policies, short-changing people on their pay, etc, etc.

It's a VERY old trick. Give the pilots a new contract with new wording that just GIVES BACK what they HAD a year or so before, put a small raise in there, then get a bunch of stuff back for it in concessions.

Mike and group and well-aware of the tactic.

Sorry to all those who were slated for class/interview. Likely to stay stagnant for a while since our attrition is likely going to slow to a trickle.

I hope you're correct and that we will see improvement some day. Been here 4 years and only seen a decline in how they treat us.

Lear, you getting back here soon?

i suggest we open up ANWR providence in northern alaska, increase drilling off the gulf coast, and tap into the colorado rockies where it's expected that 2 trillion gallons of oil exist in the shale. there's absoultely no reason what so ever our government needs to be supplying over 500 billion US dollars to the middle east to import oil when those fossil fuels exist in our own backyard!

Hey Yuppy, sorry to hear the Reds are back in town, take a Pamprin or something. And why don't you show the airline world how it's done with your next bankruptcy, oops I mean industry leading contract.

Lear question for you, The cappy I flew with last week brought this up. She says someone on the negotiating committee told her because we were in mediated talks, and our board recommended TA2, that would be the new starting point of negotiations. TA2 that is, even though we shot it down. Something they learned at their ALPA training sessions. Is this even remotely true? Hoping no but.....

That's simply incorrect. This was discussed at the domicile meetings last week by MB and the new NC Chairman. There is no need to use TA2 as a starting point. They'll use parts of TA2 that are good (MB said it best when he referred to there only being "10 good pages" in the whole TA), and parts of the existing agreement that are good, but submit completely new sections where necessary.
