CitationLover, Go berry yourself in the sand. It is you who constantly goes on this board and tries to pick fights with people on this board. You and your damn airline are irrelevant. I don't give a rats behind about Midwest. I have not said anything bad about your airline. I've just posted articles pertaining to their merger. Please don't respond back because I don't want to hear it. I, like everyone else on here are sick of you and your picking at what everyone has to say. You have this fetish and a sick one I must say! Go fly your 717 to whereever your airline flies. GET OVER IT!

then get your facts straight regarding the takeover when you spout your mouth off when trying to compare it to an unwanted SWA takeover of AAI.

if your panties are in a wad over what someone says on a public forum then perhaps some counseling is in order. i hope your medical plan covers it.

and tell me which berry to play with in the sand? black, blue, straw, or any other berry?

What facts are you speaking of. This is a forum and I don't answer to you or anyone else. I said what I said because if Southwest wants to buy AirTran, AirTran has to be willing to be bought and there is a price. Just like there was a price that Midwest sold out to. That is pure fact! You are pathetic!

again, AAI could have bought shares at $8/share but chose not to because of the poison pill. heck they could have bought them back at $3.50/share if they wanted to.

SWA can start buying up shares right now at $8.59 and unless there are no poison pill provisions via their own internal corporate policies or Nevada corporate law (as I believe Air Tran is incorporated in Nevada), Air Tran can do nothing about it but whine.

You're probably right. And, according to Lowecur, Southwest and Airtran (along with Jetblue) are entitled to slots and gates at major airports. Even if they merge themselves? They will have to divest in MDW stuff themselves! No free handouts to airlines who want to merge, unless Lowecur thinks othwerwise...

Bye Bye--General Lee
That's funny, I don't recall bringing WN into the mix. Sure they are an Lcc, but hardly in need of entre into all those major facilities I spoke about.

If WN buys and gets approval for FL, and F9 folds their cards, then gates will open up at lots of key airports. Who would fill those gates? Certainly the remaining Lcc's would fill up a percentage of some, but the "wild card" would be US Air. Dougie would be licking his chops if that happened, and you may just see a major redeployment of their fleet. He knows that US Air would be a minor player on the international stage, and US's future would be joined at the hip of the domestic market.

If I were the DOJ, I would not allow a buyout of FL by WN. Both carriers are financially sound, and the elimination of a major player in the Lcc forum would only benefit the new Big (4). The new big (4) does include WN.;)

In the coming hearings before Congress, the legacy's will present their case based upon survival in the international marketplace and their inability to continue business as usual with $100bbl oil. I have a feeling WN is not going to get much sympathy with their history of profits the last 30yrs. There success is their own worst enemy, even though most of their profits were from selling heating oil lately. They should've bought the 175, and created an express payroll for new pilot's like B6. If they did that 2 to 3 yrs ago instead of hiring all those pilots to fly new 737's, then they'd have the money to give the 737 pilot's a raise.

:pimp:

Fornaro stated at one time recently that there would be no fight if it came to a buy out..

RV

I would imagine SW would have to pay a 20-30% premium over the current trading price. That would come out to a little over 1 Billion to complete the transaction I believe. I don't know if that would qualify for the SW philosophy of buying on the cheap.

I am not selling my 200 shares purchased in the employee stock purchase program until I break even at $12 bucks a share. I knew I should have listened to those guys that said never to buy airline stock.

CL, there isn't a chance in hell that Kelly is dumb enough to try a hostile takeover. The repercussions with trying to get the acquired employees to assimilate after such a deal would be too much for SWA to accept. If it's not a consensual deal, then SWA won't do it. There will be no SWA/AAI merger.

I am not suggesting he will, just saying that if they want to they can. besides, who says it has to be hostile.

If airlines acted as recklessly as the many theories put out here, we would be reregulated quickly.

people holding 1.38M shares disagreed with you today and sold.

I do have PIC time, just not THE pic AAI is looking for, but if you want to get off on thinking I don't then feel free. All I know is I fly the same airplane you do for slightly less than you do (for one year only). I am hoping the NPA can get its act together and give me a target to increase MY 2nd year pay (the current rate is a pay cut).

All that PIC time won't help Kharma smell better when Lake Lanier runs dry this summer.
