Delta has secured leases on two additional ex-AA/TW 757-200ERs bringing the total number of aircraft to 17. Whoever was negotiating with the lessor for these two frames backed out on the deal and DL jumped on the opportunity. Details to follow.

Aircraft on property thus far: N702TW, N703TW, N704X, N706TW, N707TW, N709TW, N710TW, N712TW, N713TW, and N721TW. N713TW is currently receiving its new interior at Singapore Technologies Aerospace in Mobile, AL at KBFM. Projected project completion date for this bird is early January with all aircraft completed by mid-September.

I flew on N704X as a pax from ATL-MCO the other day. It had unusually small overhead bins. I'd say the last 30-50 passengers to board had to check their bags planeside.

What's up with that General Lee?

Sure you were not on an E170? They look the same as the 757's, but have smaller overhead bins.

Yep I'm sure. I was on the aircraft I stated I was on. The overhead bins were half the size of the normal overheads on a 757. They made an announcement over the PA in the boarding area that this was the case as well. Just thought it was interesting.

I don't know RP170, I usually turn left when I enter a Delta plane. I did recall seeing 3 cabins though, First class and then a divider further down the cabin. The cockpit is a bit different too than one of our standard 757s. But, it handles well and has plenty of power and those winglets do seem to make a difference fuelwise. I was pleasantly surprised to see it when I picked up a Quito 3 day a couple weeks ago. And, chicks dig the winglets.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Call Raisbeck. You'll be stuffing 300 pound FA's in his overhead bins before you know it. Even the General will tell you that!

These ex TWA-AA planes have the old (1998) overhead bins with the SUV flip-out style screens like on the MD90 and 737-800's. They will be replaced with the Rollaboard style when they go in for full Entertainment system (seat-back screens) and seat overhaul and get the international lie-flat seats in Business.......

I have heard that the pax like the present First class seats in them......they were adopted by AA, and they really made those first class seats large, plush and comfortable. All Delta did was recover them with new leather. Pax have told the F/A's to tell mgmt to put them in fleet-wise.....but they won't listen because our management insists that the passengers like RJ's with no middle seat and plush leather and speedy pressurized comfort and what not....
