Read on Airliners.net that Delta just added ATL--SNN (Shannon, Ireland) back into the computer with a 757A (an Ex-TWA bird) for the upcoming Summer. The longest route we have on that thing will be CVG to AMS I believe.

Bye Bye--General Lee

The 757-200ER is just our company moniker to designate them as the ETOPS birds, thats all... dont get excited Francis! :)

>> These ex TWA-AA planes have the old (1998) overhead bins <<

We (TWA) got our first 757's starting in Aug 1996. As a F/O I enjoyed flying a brand new bird for the only time in my career.

It was kind of an upper for the company because only a month earlier we had lost flt 800. Yes, they came with those puny overheads, they were the standard of the time. We thought those flip down screens were kind of cool!

I really liked when the agents used the L2 door for boarding, very handy. As passengers entered you turn left for First and right for steerage. Sitting in First you didn't have to put up with all the coach pax boarding thing.

I love the 757-200. We run ours all over the place and have legs as short as 30 minutes to as long as 9 hours. The aircraft is amazing and the RR engines seem to actually make oil on long flights. You would have loved the -300 series. Damn thing is so long that you can't see or actually recognize a flight attendant in the aft galley if you are standing in the forward galley. Flies a bit differently as well but still a fun bird.

The TWA 757s were top notch in every way, it was a shame to see them go. I guess the leases were too high for AA's standards... along with the different cabin configuration and the Pratts instead of the RRs. Typical AMR mismanagement, selling them to the competition.
