I heard this rumor a month ago. EMB170s out of DFW for OO after AMR restructures Eagle. I hope not. I hope the SWA one is true. Gotta be a reason they want us to vote on the yet to be announced pay package before years end.

Why would we be happy about taking flying from one of the last good jobs out there? I would much rather do future flying for SouthWest as a SWA pilot. Why we are at it we should figure out a way to get some flying from FedEx and UPS. Go big.

Also, I am very suspect of the rush to vote on our pay package by years end. I want to hear the 'big' one before I make my decision. Sounds like a repeat of Brad's Ace. Take care.

What are the details this pay proposal SKW has gotten or is upcoming?
Upcoming. Word is that SAPA rejected the first proposal, but both parties want to have the new payscale take effect Jan 1st. Strange.

siucavflight-the rate I am talking about is in our employee handbook.

Flightinfo is just like high school. The kid that has good grades and is the star football player is hated because he is doing well. Just like Skywest is doing well and is hated. How sad! Oh well the American way I guess.

...and just like in high school, eventually the cool kid graduates or does something to stop being cool and somebody else takes his place.

SkyWest, though a great company to work for, and one I really enjoy working for...is FAR from the "cool" kid you talk about. That's a very naive POV.

SWA
1st year f.o. at SWA = $52/hour
Lets go with a generous 3 year Capt. = $179/hr at SWA.

Total crew cost with this pairing = $231/hr - and thats with a 3 year upgrade at SWA.

SKYW
1st year f.o. at Skywest flying CRJ1000's for SWA = $19.25 carrying 100 passengers.

3rd year Capt currently = $63/hr

Totals = $82.25/hour crew costs with this pairing

$231-82.25 = A WHOPPING $148.75/HOUR DIFFERENCE in crew cost per hour MINIMUM(with a 3 year upgrade at SWA)

EVEN IF PAY IS INCREASED FOR THE 1000 - IT WON'T BE EVEN CLOSE TO THAT DIFFERENCE.

YET ALL YOU IDIOTS (SKYNATION, ETC) ARE JUST DROOLING AT THE CHANCE.

WTF???

From Wikipedia....Prostitute...In colloquial usage, the word "prostitute" is sometimes generalized to mean the selling of one's services for a cause thought to be unworthy, in the sense of "prostituting oneself" or "whoring oneself".

WITH THE CRJ1000 THE GAP IN SEATS BETWEEN WHAT IS FLOWN ON THE REGIONAL SIDE AND THE MAJOR SIDE IS CLOSING.

YET THE PAY IS NOT.

AS "WE" ACCEPT THESE AIRCRAFT INTO THE REGIONALS AT THESE PAY SCALES WE ARE DRAGGING THIS INDUSTRY INTO THE DUMPSTER.

Boy am I glad you put that in the huge font. I would never have grasped the gravity of the situation otherwise.

Did you ever consider the fact that Southwest now has anti-RJ commercials running right now? That they've always flown only one type of aircraft? That maybe it's all just a stupid rumor? I have and therefore I don't really care.

Third time now that I've asked on this thread and still waiting for a reply from a skywest employee... Has your company negotiated and proposed a "pay package" in the past that was voted down by the pilots? And what was the counter offer from the company?

There has only been one as long as I have been here - couldn't tell ya....

I'm not aware of a pay package being voted down at Skywest, or a pay package, endorsed by the negotiators, that was voted down at any airline for that matter.

There was an offer that was voted down a couple years ago that was 1.2 percent increase for everyone. After that came 1.0 percent for the RJ guys and the BHO for the 700/900 which was accepted.

What???

2005

"Fellow Pilots,

I wish to thank you all for the strong turnout in the recent pay vote. Over 80% of our pilots took the time to familiarize themselves with the issues and vote their choice. Particular thanks go out to DC and all the members of our Communications Committee, for their hard work and flawless production of the pay vote and follow up survey.

To my knowledge, this is only the second time in SkyWest history when a pay proposal has been turned down. Your representatives were prepared for this possibility, and opened a survey as soon as the pay vote closed. The results of the survey are as follows:

Q.1 - What is the primary reason that you did not vote for this proposal, or you feel was responsible for the rejection of this proposal?

Rate increase is not sufficient. 34.0%

Pay scales should include only aircraft in the current fleet (i.e. CRJ-200/700); or 70-seat aircraft should pay more than the current 200 rates. 32.6%

The proposal does not have an amendable date. 20.0%

Work rule improvements were not sufficient. 7.4%"

The counter offer that we accected in Nov. 06' was NO increase for the EMB-120, 1% for 4 years on the CRJ50, and a block override on the 70/90
