Could someone who works for FlexJet tell me what a person can expect to make in the first year? Also can you give an example breakdown of the extras added to the base pay?

$195 per day.

15 day lines = $38,025
16 day lines = $40,560

Figure another $6,000 for per diem most of which comes home with you.

There's also a performance bonus awarded in May which can be substantial.

Why is it that people can't have a choice about weather they want to work for a union shop or not. you have a union we don't, that way there is a choice. Or are we not allowed to have that anymore, I didn't get a memo.

I am sorry if you assumed an implication of a union above, but as you can note there is no mention of it.

I post purely on the truth and what i experienced at Flexjet durring my time there. I never post opinion.

I state now, and have always stated that I am a company guy more than a union guy. However we have proven at netjets that if both sides are pulling in the same direction all can make money under proper work rules.

You can continue to trust Flexjet management, but also a fool to believe that when things get tuff, there wont be a change. Here is a few i got to go through:

mandantory 7 on 3 off(lasted for 6 months)
pay freeze
bonus out the door
crew food policy change
hotel quality changed
benefits changed( pay more by pilots)
and many more......

so my reply is to the orginal question TRUTH:

The pay is what management says it is for now. What is posted is only a guideline to what you MAY get. After you sign your 2 year work contract.

The attrition rate is 20% for a reason. Good product, not a good place to work. Flexjet will never be more than 100-120 airplane shop.

I would disagree with the 100-120 aircraft statement. I see flexjet getting to around 800 pilots in the next 5 years. That's a pure guess because management will not tell us what our 5 year plan is. We have almost 500 pilots now. I will say, go easy on Walsh. He hasn't worked at Flex long enough to feel the inadequacy of our compensation and benefits. After working here a few more years and busting his hump for less wages, he'll grow up and realize what it is he works for.

Oh, first year wages are around 40k. The added bonuses to the salary are: floating rest, Holiday Inns, and 3am wake up calls...

Make sure you take into account the cost of the insurance. When I got my "raise" the additional cost of insurance ate it up fast.

Vette, You are right on ..... about the insurance side of the equation. I'm riding along on my wife's policy as a dependent because the Flex benefits aren't really worth having. The shame of it is, that I'm flying this rotation with a guy who has no idea of what he should choose during this this year's open enrollment period because the options that are offered are so sub-standard, and he doesn't even know it. He has a family to support, but I just have to make it to Medicare. Good luck.

Let me diffuse this worthless argument by thanking the NJ pilot who gave me and my FO their crew meals last week at KLAX. Our catering almost didn't show up. It would been a long flight to KDPA with no food. Great Cobb salad! Appreciated it. Thanks. That's the brotherhood that counts!

Ill go easy when people just stick to the topics, and the questions that are asked. This thread is about first year pay at Flex Jet, and nothing else. Every thread on here that has Flex Jet in it always has someone saying how bad it is here, and how we need to have a union. We don't all need to be the same.

If you work here and don't like it then quit. If you don't work here then I don't see why you have to always put us down.


About insurance: My wife pays 3 times as much for the same insurance we get, and she works for the worlds second largest bank.
Could it be better? Yes, but couldn't everything?

Now to answer this question. First year gross pay 42,000 with only 1 overtime day and average about 16 days per bid. Didn't track my per diem but probably 5,000 plus. Don't remember how big the bonus was but my wife spent it before I got it any way.

60 school has been fun its a great aircraft but I miss my 300

Walsh, there is a reason that people keep saying that, and it is because the majority of Flex pilots now think that we need a union.

Your "if you dont like it then leave" attitude is, in my opinion, a bit on the childish side. Surely you must agree that seniority is like gold in this industry right? If I have been here 5 years, but decide I'm not too happy, am I better off trying to improve things or give up my seniority and start over at the bottom somewhere else? Pretty much anywhere I decide to go to will mean I take a pay cut and get reserve schedules. Its called the golden hand cuffs. I'm stuck here because of the seniority I have built.

So, like many others, I have decided to stay and just hope for improvements. In my case, I believe that the best way, if not the only way, to improve our Pay/benefits/QOL is through a union.

More and more people are jumping over to the same side of the fence as me. A union will benefit us all, just the way it benefited NJ. Simple as that in my mind. I dont see any downside to it anymore. none....

44720 is year 2 FO pay (16day gurantee) as a Lear 40/45 FO you will not get anymore than 16

plus per diem
bonus is around 1500 for a FO
maybe a couple of days of overtime during the busy season

The POS plan is 120/month for a family, the other plans are cheaper and the POS is cheaper depending on who you have on it (it is pretty much your standard isurance) Yes for the guys bashing the insurance I was on a HMO through my wife's insurance when she worked at a defense contractor and it was much better but it cost about 100/week for the family plan, so you get what you pay for

While I have been among the most anti union person around, I must admit that it is getting more and more like a good option. The thing that bothers me most is that of the rumored NJA purchase of Flex. If that happens, you can kiss that forth strip goodbye due to our being stapled to the bottom of the list.

When we were being potentially bought by Penske, there were no representatives for the pilots there. We would have taken what Penske gave us. I must admit that a union would stop that.

I'm curious as to why you feel that the Flex pilots would be "the unwanted stephchild" if 1108 is voted in. From what 1108's leadership has said, Flex's pilots wouldn't be at all lesser participants in the union nor would they receive lesser efforts from the leadership of 1108.

did you ever get the extra insurance ALPA offered? or did you use their on call doctors when you had a medical question? did you ever grieve something that you think the company owed you, or when you think they broke a rule? Did you ever jumpseat on anybody back before the CASS days?

I did... add in the job protection and I'd say the 2% was well worth it. And, I even got 5% off my cingular bill thanks to ALPA.

not saying ALPA was the greatest thing, but I'm saying it was better than being non-union. I'm leaning towards the same thing here. Teamsters may not be the all good, but the good might outweigh the bad. simple as that.

Walsh, I got a feeling that IBT 1108 may be the wave of the future at Flex. You may want to jump over to Citation Shares, where everybody is singing and jumping with joy with their current working conditions.

And yet, the NJA/NJI integration will be done by DOH. That's with the NJI pilots who are not paying any union dues at this time. If Flex pilots vote for 1108 representation and start paying dues, why would you reasonably expect a worse deal than the NJI pilots will get?
