Oh God no...

...so does this mean that if I apply right now I might get the ATR or would they start getting them like in March or something?

The source was an internal memo sent out stating there was going to be an ATR at Signiture Flight Services across the field at STL on OCT 3, as a static display and then a demo ride for anyone interested. There has been speculation as to when and really if we are going to get these planes, but MX seems to think we are getting them and they will be used for some of our short haul stuff out of STL maybe for United out of IAD. Who knows if this will happen, just have the memo and some rumors going around for now.

A turboprop! Noooooo! The new pilots of today are too good for turboprops!

At least it's a round turboprop. Those square airplanes are just freaky. ;)

If you fly any airplane in severe icing conditions for 20 minutes with your flaps down, below the recommended icing speed, and not turn on the airframe deice for the first 5 minutes... of course it will turn into a lawn dart when you lose it and attempt a 3 G pullout at 125kts above VMO.

Definitely an overblown reputation. Especially, when you consider the mistakes made and the modifications that have been made since.

I would have given anythng to fly the ATR out of SJU for Eagle, unfortunatly the only aircraft available in the class was the EMB. The ATR is a fantastic airplane.
And Saluki the reason why they keep them at the lower altitudes is because they are turboprops. What is the problem you see with the ATR?
