Eagle is going down...strongly suggest to any person planning to go to a regional....STAY AWAY. There is no future here.... pilots are quitting, and now many more will quit, me inclusive. Upgrades are 8 years plus and medium and junior F/O's are dropping like dead flies.
Once again...be smart and find another job.

Pilot morale hits bottom, management gets a bigger shovel, keeps digging.

Fellow American Eagle pilots,

It is with great disappointment that I report to you the unsuccessful conclusion of our Letter 3 grievance settlement discussions this morning. Despite guaranteed movement of Eagle pilots to American and the resulting extensive cost savings to both companies, management refused to work within the framework the unions had proposed.

We are acutely aware of how important these discussions were to all Eagle pilots. It is especially frustrating to have been so close to a legitimate comprehensive resolution of all remaining Letter 3 disputes and yet walk away empty-handed.

Nonetheless, we will now turn our full attention to vigorously defending the Letter 3 rights and the legitimate career expectations of Eagle pilots in the pending arbitrations.

In conclusion, I want to express my deep appreciation to all Eagle pilots for your patient restraint, your unwavering support, and tremendous input into this process. I also want to express my pride in seeing your local council representatives vigorously fight for your unique and sometimes differing interests in any cumulative Letter 3 settlement. You are well represented by this current group of volunteers and I am proud to work along side of them.

We will update you on the arbitration schedule in our weekly hotline which will be posted on Monday.

In a four party negotiating session held today AA and American Eagle management rejected the proposed framework for settlement of all Supplement W grievances currently outstanding between the parties. While both APA and the Eagle ALPA negotiators have worked very hard to reach a comprehensive settlement framework, both management teams felt that they could not accept the proposed agreement.

Preparations are underway for arbitrations due to resume next month. We are extremely disappointed that management failed to recognize the value to both AA and Eagle in our joint proposal, but we are now working diligently to prepare for the upcoming arbitrations. Protection of the AA seniority list is a paramount goal for the APA, and we will continue to do everything possible to preserve its integrity. We will keep you abreast of any additional developments as they occur.
 
Never understood why anybody within the last 3 years or so went there. Its a solid company to RETIRE from, not go to for a quick upgrades. I have a lot of friends who still work there and seem to like it but they are all FO's where they could have easily been a Captain just about anywhere else by now. Guess it's all about your priorities. Good luck to my AE friends.
 
Here is the latest we got from our MEC.

For the past few years, American Eagle management has told us that we need to reduce our costs. This has been the goal in every decision, in every department, at every level.

The Eagle ALPA MEC has worked diligently with American Eagle management towards this goal. We’ve worked on the longevity issue, the Captain Qualified First Officer initiative, the ACARS initiative, the Gate initiative, and the Pairing Generation Task Force. Eagle ALPA pilots have in fact delivered tens of millions of dollars in fuel savings to management.

The negotiated Letter 3 settlement that was crafted jointly by ALPA and APA has the potential to save the AMR Corporation money, and to immediately solve many problems for American Airlines, the APA, American Eagle Airlines, and Eagle pilots represented by ALPA. These discussions, if allowed to continue, represent an opportunity for the AMR Corporation to make a short term investment that could return a significant cost savings over time.

We are asking Eagle ALPA pilots to immediately communicate with Eagle management their level of dissatisfaction with the outcome of today’s meeting. We don’t want an arbitrator deciding our future. We believe the best solution lies with a negotiated settlement. Tell Eagle management to do whatever it takes to keep these negotiations going.

The Eagle ALPA MEC will teleconference this Wednesday. Until then, we ask that you remain professional. Please stay attentive to your email inboxes and the Eagle website for more information.
 
Eagle has become a real problem for AMR. I would steer clear of eagle. There are plenty of other regionals hiring. I know they will take anyone with a pulse; if that's all you have go for it.

In simple terms. An agreement for Eagle pilots to flowthrough to AA, that worked the opposite. AA and TWA pilots came back to Eagle during furloughs and still many remain here as Captains. Native EGL Captains lost their seats and got displaced. F/O's are stuck with current 8 year upgrades. Senior native EGL captains (15+ years) are not going anywhere. No movement. And the company does not want to negociate or give us a career prespective. They will start parking turboprops.
Hundreds of pilots have quit and many more will do so in the following weeks.

Stay away... don't waste time.

They were negotiating a settlement of outstanding issues about Supplement W @AA and Letter 3 @ Eagle W and 3 are same thing different name in AA and AE contracts.

ALPA and APA had agreed :
The one item that APA was not willing to budge on was the recall order. They wanted their guys back first before ANY one flowed up AA still has 1500 plus on furlough. For giving the APA this item we AE would have received:
1. All Eagle pilots would be given Seniority Numbers at American.
2. All Eagle pilots would start at second year pay at American.
3. All new hires for American would come from Eagle.
4. And extension of 3/W's life beyond the 5/08 sunset it now has.

Thats about IT AA/AE management told'em to "Go pound sand"
 
Well, as for staying away, I already work for ASA, so I'm really not contemplating a lateral move. :rolleyes:

That said, what's up with you guys? When I got hired at ASA, Eagleites were jumping ship like rats on the Titanic. Then all of a sudden it became a great place to work and people went there like mad right up until about a year ago. Now all of a sudden it sucks again? Did you guys not know this deal was in place when you took the job? Eagle flow down is nothing new.

Face it, you gambled and lost. You took the job thinking you'd flow up and be a SkyNazi one day, but instead you got the shaft. And now you're pissed?
 
I have been a longtime supporter and used to encourage potential newhires to come to AE. I cannot recommend this airline anymore. AE is a good company to fly with if you have no career expectations beyond sitting in the right seat of a small jet or turboprop for 7-8years making $35k the whole time. Seriously, if you want to get to SWA/FedEx/or any other major/legacy carrier go somewhere with quicker upgrades. Even if you dont want to continue to other airlines, go to XJT, CHQ, SKYW and upgrade in 1-2 years, you will at least make $60k when you upgrade. Sadly AE has nothing to offer in terms of career opportunity or advancement.

We did, we all gambled at AE and lost. Im disappointed and frustrated. I am mad that I have personally changed from being someone who loved to fly to someone who is seriously contemplating leaving the industry completely. This should be a sign for newhires.

I second that. Things just don't work out how we want it to. Not our fault. We all give our best to the profession. The EGL execs are at fault. No more bonus to them.
 
It seems AMR would have to address your staffing problems eventually. A friend tells me you guys are losing more pilots than you're hiring every month and AE had to park a handfull of Saabs because they couldn't staff them. Somethings gotta give, right?
