missed what?

What he means is.....try looking up "irregardless".

Reminds me of George Carlins "people who get wordy in order to lend themselves an air of importance" routine. He uses the airline industry as an example. Funny and oh so true.

According to airlinpilotpay.com,
6th year VA A-320 F/O: $72
6th year UAL A320 F/O: $82

Seems fairly similar to me.

You think a 14% difference in pay is similar? With soft pay credits, that $10 difference is worth about $11,000 a year at most places. Doesn't seem very similar to me.

AirlinePilotCentral lists VA as having 105 pilots. If they're paying each pilot $11,000 less than their counterpart at UAL, then that saves VA $1.15 million a year just in pilot labor costs. For such a small airline, that's a big pile of cash.

Ok tool......let's play the definition game.

ir·re·gard·less (
adv. Nonstandard Regardless.

[Probably blend of irrespective and regardless.]
Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term.

EQUALS

ir·re·spec·tive ([IMG]adj. Archaic Characterized by disregard; heedless.
re·gard·less[IMG] adv. In spite of everything; anyway

Put THAT into context and you will see the point.....when you are done teaching the SAT test, maybe you can bring something relevant to the thread.

I'm trying to get in touch with an old friend Steeve H captain at VA,if anyone who knows him could send me a pm,i would appreciate

Well, I see the big fork sticking in this thread...

We don't go many places yet, but if you want a ride stop on by. CASS folks get access to the two up front and any open in coach. Non CASS can still get on in the back. We greatly appreciate any return favors.

Ralph out...

And
12 yr UAL320 CAP/FO: $133/$91
12 yr JBLU320 CAP/FO: $147/$87

And that's not counting hours over 70 paid at 150% at JBLU.

Are you sure you're not pulling down the industry UALdriver?

How many 12 year captains at Jet Blue? It's easy to put something down on paper that you don't have to pay for another 5 years. Anyway that payscale is about $100/hr less than a job with that much responsibility should pay, and has paid.

The reality is that as long as we let startups or whoever come in with ultralow payscales there is always going to be downward pressure on wages. Look at the amount of cash left on the table in the contract losses at UA, DL, AA, NW, and others. This career used to provide an outstanding living. These contract losses are due, in large part, to pressure from lower cost, lower wage carriers.

What we need is an association that regulates the flow of pilots into the industry and sets payscales. Unless that happens, if you're on top, put yourself into the breach, you're next.

As long as we're on the 2nd big thread creep/pissing match, try looking up "linguistical."

linguist
1. Someone who speaks several languages or finds it easy to learn languages.
2. Someone who studies linguistics.
linguistic, linguistical, linguistically
1. Of or pertaining to language or the knowledge or study of languages.
2. Relating to linguistics, or to the affinities of languages.
linguistics
The science of language, especially of the elements, modifications, and structural and relativistic aspects of units of speech; or the study of a particular language. Speakers of English may say, "What is his native tongue?" meaning language, and those who spoke Latin used lingua with the same figurative application. A linguist, then, is thought to be someone who speaks several languages fluently and is also known as a polyglot, literally, "many tongues".
Usually, when this person was bilingual; the next step probably was to be trilingual or even multilingual. From these stages of language development, we know that this person has learned diction, wording styles, idioms, phrasing, and vocabulary; as well as slang, jargon, and dialect because that is what linguistics is all about.

I have been accused of being a "cunning linguist"....lol

lin·guis·ti·cal Pronunciation[ling-gwis-ti-kuh'l]

–adjective (not in technical use) linguistic.

It's the basic equivalent of irregardless. Acceptable for the common joe, utterly unacceptable for those who throw stones at others for improper usage of the language.

Oh that's the spirit Viking.......

So I guess since I work for a competitor (Delta), that means no jumpseat for me too?? That's all this guy is...a competitor....you seem to forget, we are all pilots, save your ammo for your contract fight.

Don't fault the guy for putting food on the table....he didn't scab, he didn't cross a line....Who knows, maybe he was one of the TWA guys you so kindly placed on the street......

Ok, I was a bit hasty there.
Although I don't agree with Branson starting another LCC I'll agree to keep the jumpseat out of it...
Everybody is welcome to ride (except scabs of course.
