$3000 for the private during my first year of college, then on internship for the remainder. $0 for Inst, Comm, CFI, CFII, and traded A&P time for my multi.

Started Aug 2001 and finished my MEI in Feb 2003 for a grand total of $45K. Gotta love ATA flight school, I should say ex-ATA.

about 25k with all instructor ratings. '99-'01
that included an Associate of Science. If I had to do it over I'd probably do it the same way. I'm sure it's more expensive now at the exact same place though. I can't imagine doing a 6 figure program. No thanks.
:(

5k out of my own pocket. That does not count the 25k for my A&P that got the internship that allow me to get my instrument through commercial multi and my cfis. Jan 03

Wilky,

Was that the American Flyers internship? If so, which city did you get? I was up in Chicago at Palwaukee for my year, then DuPage

Delta Connection Academy being the criminals that they are now recommend that you take out a home equity loan to pay for training. See it here for yourself on the schools web page. Scroll to the bottom and read under "additional sources of funding." Also notice that key bank in no longer a option. Wonder why? I would like to find any financial planner that thinks putting your house on the block to become a pilot is a good idea. Sick.

Not only that, but to borrow against your 401k. WTF?!?!?! That's about as big a red flag as you can get that you are about to make a tremendous mistake!

Anyway, my costs in the mid 90's, Private through MEI for $20k.

Yes, I was in Pompano beach. They kept us pretty busy there.

Got my CFI in 1973, GI Bill paid 90%, cost me about $125, I rented a C-150 for $5.00/hr dual. Paid $275 for my ATP in a Grumman Tiger in 1978. That is all the flight training I have paid for.
