Read the article again and see that it was nonstop from CVG to HNL----10 hours nonstop. That requires 3 pilots minimum. Our flights to Tokyo and Mumbai (Bombay) have 4 pilots on them. That means someone can be in the back and the others are safe. You may never see that at SWA.

Since your regional does not fly long distances, let me explain. Flights over 8 hours have a relief pilot. It was the relief pilot who confronted the passenger. You see, the relief pilot eats a meal, takes a nap, does some light reading etc. as the heavy, of which you have what, three, makes its way across the ocean, a big body of water larger than Lake Michigan or Lake Havasu for you West girls and lands at a far away destination. Maybe when you get the big airbuses from Air Canada you will figure all this out.

I have seen over $100,000 a year since our 777 agreement in '99. Even with our pay cut, I have been able to squeeze out well over $100,000 a year. I could hold MD88 Captain now, but I am waiting for the 737-800, then I will go to the 757/767 Captain, then the 787, etc. I will see a lot more than Lubbock, TX too in my career.

I know the guys that used to be on your MEC hear from Mars on a regular basis, but as usual they have failed to consider, Shuttles will be operated by Shuttle America, because they have less than 76 seats, don't fly between hubs and don't weigh very much.

You and I will both be too experienced for those positions because according to Captain Kirk you have more than 200 hours and you have not been hired, then you must be a loser.

Live Long, Save for your Retirement, NaNu NaNu.... By then I will probably be running a clapped out Beech 1900 to VLD,MCN,CSG and CHA after Delta figures out running a 4,000PPH, 20 something million dollar, jet on regional routes is, well, kinda not profitable.

What I found interesting about the news article was that it mentioned that smoking is a federal crime, but failed to mention that assaulting a member of the crew is also a (more serious, I would think) federal crime. I'm not a 121 pilot, just a little 91/135 guy, but I do know that it's a federal offense to interfere with a crew member--the FBI responds to such allegations--and the lawyer in me would guess that punching a member of the flight deck crew (while simultaneously smoking illegally) would be an "interference" within the meaning of the statute. Just a (hopefully educated) guess.
