I think all non-union promoters should start wearing a anti-union button or pin so we can all see who they are out on the line. I for one would love to see if this is true of some pilots, or if all these flame bates are just management moles hanging out on line.

I thought those guys where the ones who didn't wear their union pin. But it seems there are just apathetic types that don't wear it too...

I certianly don't mind being represented at an Airline Industry analyst conference, the only union to do so.

I don't mind being represented in Congress

I don't mind someone looking out for TSA directives on my behalf.

Represenatation is one thing. Results are another. Take Oversight of Outsourced MX - Having worked in the aftermarket/outsourced mx bizz, I can tell you that foreign mx is hopelessly out of our controls in most areas, and the FAA is woefully understaffed to fight the problem here in the US. This problem can only be solved by throwing money at it, i.e. hiring more inspectors to routinely inspect shops and their practices. Is ALPA going to pony up the cash? Have any catastrophe's on American Soil occured recently involving this issue? <---I am aware of previous instances where this was a factor. If either answer is 'NO,' I wouldn't expect results too quickly. These are by no means the only questions being asked, but just an example.

So...YES, you do have representation, but what good does it do the pilots if it is outside ALPA's sphere of influence? This is an example of ALPA politics: Convince the pilot group you're doing something when you're not really doing anything. ALPA might as well go pound sand, it'll accomplish just as much.

Stick to issues Union's can influence the most: Pay and Schedule

Not a bad idea. But I don't think that this thread has been so much about anti-union as it is about ALPA's recent lack of fire.

Hit the nail on the head, Terry. I feel sorry for the guy in you avatar, looks like he ate something a little too spicy:)

Then how about getting off your butt and running for elected office so you can put some "fire" back into ALPA? Sounds like a much better idea than sitting on your ass and whining on flightinfo.

ALPA is your MEC... your MEC is the failure if you don't like ALPA..

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS BEFORE YOU DEBATE.

I was highly involved at ACA smarta$$. I'd expect such a stupid remark from a liberal.
BTW, I don't work for an ALPA carrier anymore...it's IBT1108 local where I work...and they carry a heavy bat.

You are right to a degree. But I have to ask where ALPA national was when everyone at the TSA MEC kept getting fired over and over for mysterious reasons.

A liberal? Are you nuts? I voted twice for President Bush and still stand by those votes.

There is a little thing called FEDERAL LITIGATION goin on about that........it has been on several blast e-mails, VARS and every rep has info about it. ALPA National is backing this deal all the way.

Next gripe?

And remember the TEAMSTERS used a big stick a LONG time ago bubba - they operate under the RLA as well.

Everyone expects ALPA to do something... what that something is...nobody seems to know....

or if they do come up with somthing it is usually unworkable.... then ALPA is weak cause they won't implement a great idea from FlightInfo....

We need a National Sen List! (great....idea... HOW!)

We need national Payrates.... (ok......HOW!)

We need................

What we need is educated and informed members....and we don't.... if members adopted more of a leadership role we would be more effective... instead members sit around complaining .....

Frankly many dems are bad for labor, but pretty much all repubs are.. so I try to just pick and choose who I vote for based on other issues that matter to me. Ideally, I'd like to get a Pat Buchanan type in to the presidency who both cares about labor, and also holds to traditional values that I subscribe to.

Today, they've all just become Republicrats.

Amen to that!!! Too bad there aren't more guys like Pat in politics. (although I do disagree with his opinions on WWII)

I even agree with him on that... I pretty much agree with him 100%.. The real him, not the villainized version of him the liberal media created.

The big stick swung well for us at NJA...

I was going by your signature...thought you were a Hillary man.

Hillary? *gag* I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Actually, I don't know who to support at this point. Can't stand McCain, Romney is half a step above a cult member, and Rudy is certainly no conservative. On the other hand, I'm quite certain that Hillary Clinton is Satan, and Obama would feel right at home in Castro's Cuba. This election cycle is really going to suck.

Safety...

Most morons like you (MELIT) think the purpose of ALPA is to line your pockets with nice fat CBAs.

Don't ever forget ALPA got started because too many pilots and passengers were getting killed regularly.

ALPA's primary goal is to keep people from dying on commercial airline flights.

Everything else is more or less secondary.

If you cannot understand this, you will never understand ALPA and you will always be speaking against what it does...

...and you will complain about ALPA from your nice safe cockpit, in your nice safe airplane, at your nice safe airport, operating in your nice safe airspace system... which all magically happened by themselves. IDIOT.

Translation: I am an ALPA apoligist and we want SkyWest pilots dues ASAP
