Regions Air Ceased Operations?

Is this true? I heard it ceased operations last night.

Appears to be true. Not a single flight in and out of STL since 1700 last night.

Yeh.. 120 days mandatory reorganization period per your friendly FAA..

Our training procedures have not changed in 11 years.. The FAA has been signing off on everything, for 11 years..

Now, all of a sudden, the FAA says we are not complying to their wishes...

This company may be or well, was jacked, in a lot of ways, but we did what the FAA asked us to..

It's looking like it's more political than anything.. Quite a few coincidences that all fell into place at the right time.. Who knows..

Short answer: Yes.

Anyone wanna get my jacket out of the crew room for me? ;)

Yes, days..

'All Regions aircraft and crew have been requested to return to the company's Smyrna, Tenn., base to await further instructions'

How are they supposed to get there?

The planes have been ferried part 91..

The crews haven't been told to return to MQY.. I just got off the phone with CrewSked's.. No mention of me coming back up there.. I'm sure not going up there to sit around and wait to hear we are toast..

Heyas,

Not the first or last time something like this will happen.

Back in the mid 90's, GP Express folded up overnight. A buddy of mine showed up to work, and everything that wasn't bolted to the terminal floor was gone. He used a payphone to call a few of the company numbers, and they were all disconnected.

He finally got ahold of the owner's wife at home, and she told him "yea, we shut down. I guess someone should have told you". They jacked him for a couple of grand in back wages.

It always amazes me in situations like this how, somehow, every last stapler, paperclip and other assets are secured literally overnight, but they can't manage to pick up a fracking telephone and tell the employees.

GP was a funny little outfit. We actually looked up to Great Lakes.

Nu

That sucks for the 3C folks. Arrived in STL yesterday and saw three J-balls parked along B; they kind of looked lonely with nobody around them...

Not many.. Maybe 35 total I guess?

Nov 05..

Fortunately for the pilots, the writing was on the wall. Most of us have been trying to get out...and lots have interviews, including captains. The company may have had to cease operations for lack of crew before much longer anyway. Everyone was working hard to get out. Its sad this company may no longer be around, but I guess that's part of the industry.

I had heard a while back that Great Lakes was going to take over for Regions as the new American Connection carrier out of STL. Maybe there is some truth to this.

I wish Great Lakes the best of luck.. :)

They under bid us by $2 million.. which is also $800K less than they bid 2 years ago..

How a company can bid $800K less than they bid 2 years ago with todays fuel prices, I have no idea.. :)

It should be fun to watch..

Eh, while it looks like a 1st grader with some HTML knowledge made it, it still works for me..

I wouldn't expect any formal updates on the company website..

I work here and the only way I found out about the whole deal was right here.. I have not received a single phone call from anyone in the company..

I had been a decently optimistic about this place turning around.. No more.. Look elsewhere..

Yeah, Wikipedia is your best bet:

On March 2, 2007 the local Airline's FSDO office, FAA officials in DC, and the airline got into a minor spat over some wording in one of the training manuals - the local office approved the policy over 11 years ago, but someone decided it was no longer "appropriate" and demanded it be changed - putting the airline in a very difficult position, especially on a Friday afternoon. The airline voluntarily ceased scheduled operations until the items could be clarified. FAA found no discrepancies when they went over all pilots records. In the end, a majority of the crews were actually still eligible to fly and about 35 of the airlines flights were cancelled that Saturday. [2] [3].
On March 8, 2007 at 4:36pm the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) again grounded RegionsAir due to discrepancies in the airlines training procedures for line-check airmen. As of this time, it is unknown when RegionsAir will return to passenger service. As a result of this second grounding within one week, several regional airports serviced by RegionsAir have announced intentions to replace the airline with other regional carriers. [4]

Good Luck To Those Bfe Airports On Getting Anyone Who Gives One S%!$ About Them... Great Akes Will Never Fly Those Routes...
