How could any rational thinking aircrew strand passengers on an airplane without air, power, functioning lavs, or food for up to 11 hours?

For the love of baby jesus I can only imagine it is because JetBlue has no union and the incompetent captain and even more frightened FO fears for their jobs should they start an APU or leave an engine running (like normal pilots would!). After an hour, any NORMAL pilot would have DEMANDED that the EMPTY airplane at the gate be towed clear and we be towed/taxi in. Apparently Jetblue has cornered the market on absolute freakin' MORONS (captains) that sit in a holding pen for up to 11 HOURS with no electricity, no air, no food, no functioning lavatories and no freakin' brains! As a passenger I would have called 911 and called a halt to the INSANITY many hours before!

You IDIOTS at JetBlue deserve congressional intervention in the form of a passenger bill of rights because you are TOO STUPID to regulate yourselves! Have I mentioned that because of your STUPIDITY congress will finally force some guidance upon you!

Honest to God... stranding families in the back of your aluminum tube with no electricity, no flow of air, no heat, no meaningful food, no functioning lavatories and no information for up to 11 HOURS is such an abysmal FAILURE of the most basic kind as to require no further explanation. Apparently multiple idiot crews were involved in this unbelievable debacle... which makes me wonder if ALL the pilots at this poor airline all fear for their job and put safety of passengers second to keeping their crappy, low-paying job!

Okay man put down the alcohol and sleep it off! You sound like the freakin media.. Considering that JB has pilots from nearly every legacy and every facet of the industry do you really think that your extreme views are rational?

Havent you heard of block time? Thats a lotta extra $$$$$ baby!!! Can you say cha ching!!!!

Extreme views? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you happen to catch any of the FRUSTRATED AND EXHAUSTED PASSENGER INTERVIEWS? You must also be mentally disabled to think holding passengers HOSTAGE in an aluminum tube with no power, no source of fresh air, no food, and no way of eliminating human waste is somehow "NORMAL" for 11 hours falls anywhere within the bounds of normality! You sir an an IDIOT! It's no wonder congress will be FORCED to act on the passenger bill of rights. These JetBlue captains are obviously incompetent. Why else would congress feel compelled to act?

If I had been on board with my kids, I would have given them 15 minutes warning, then blown a slide.....

I agree. I could see a couple hours or more in a lineup that has SOME progression but 11 hours camped out on the ramp shut down is pure insanity.

Gup

Click.....

The pilots from those legacy carriers hired at JetBlue were all fo's at their previous carriers. So, they had nothing to say before. And they are too afraid to do something on their own. What happens if they have a problem in the air, will they then do what the company tells them? Thankfully the majority of your flying is up and down the coastline so that airmanship isn't really a factor. BBB, you are right in everything you said.......I wouldn't even treat our jumpseaters that way, never mind paying customers.

My sentiments EXACTLY! Somehow, among all the job paranoia and thoughts of saving fuel what's been lost is the HUMANITY in this crappy situation! No way would I hang tight, pee in my water bottle, sweat a liter an hour in a hot, humid, sticky, disgusting aluminum tube because the 26 yr old Captain was scared for his job should he assert himself and act responsibly like an ORDINARY captain would!

Let's not forget this story of utter incompetence is splashed across the front page of the USA TODAY and is the lead story on every major network broadcast. Neeleman, with his big grin and pre-cancerous skin lesions glistening for the cameras said it was a series of terrible decisions... no kidding Dave! Fact is you hired a bunch or scared-for-their-job morons and you got a result that was completely predictable!

Well BBB, hopefully you will get your opportunity to blow a slide, that would look great on your resume and yes, you would be looking for a new job!

As for the meltdown in JFK, it truly was pathetic and there is no real excuse, but jetblue is not the first airline to mess up in this fashion and more than likely will not be the last.

Fortunately boxes do not use their cellphones when they are delayed!

So in all that blabber... all I get is this is normal (because we are not the only ones to display incredibly unbelievable poor judgment). Well now I'm re-assured... the industry is rife with idiots that would do the same! Thanks Dizel8.

That is funny, the NWA pilots who got stuck in this kind of crap in DTW were ALPA, the AA crew in Austin were APA, the SWA crew in MDW were SWAPA, the FedEx crew in JFK were ALPA. Wx happens and sometimes things do not go as planned, union or not, has nothing to do with it.

Oh, but I am a bit curious, why does it upset you so, after all, you were not on any of the airplanes delayed nor were you in JFK dealing with the situation?

You had a half dozen or more instances of complete and utter incompetence on the part of JetBlue leadership and you are wondering where the problem lies? OMG! You guys at JetBlue really are clueless!

BB I think it sucks.. Having your operations completely shut down is an absolute worst nightmare and such a long delay is NOT acceptable but this is not the first time and it is certainly not the last airline that this happens to.

I think calling all jb pilots incompetent is out of line this industry is comprised of true professionals regardless of company and regardless of situation.

I hope there is a passenger bill of rights passed but I feel responsibility for that bill should be joint between operators AND the FAA. (Airline Z cannot be financially responsible for the flow or groundstops imposed by the faa)

I respect your opinions but disagree as we are all throwing rocks in a glass house in this situation.

And what might those be, I mean those that are specific only to jetblue and mistakes that no other airline have made.

I am all ears!!

For the sake of passengers yet unboarded I really hope those guys never find themselves in a situation where they have to make a decision.

You all had a stellar opportunity to demonstrate to this industry how you were not FOLLOWERS but LEADERS and... due to nothing other than utter incompetence... you chose as a company to punt. We're not talking a single flight here... we're talking a half dozen or more that were held captive in a nasty, filthy, hot, humid, no electricity, no ventilation, no food, no human waste removal situation for up to 11 hours and your IDIOT CAPTAINS did nothing to assert themselves! I assert your aircrew are more concerned with their jobs than passenger SAFETY! If your captains knew they had a strong union to support their decisions (vs the no union scared position that currently exists) then these horrific, captive stories would never had occurred!

BBB

BBB, once again you are spouting utter BS, why don't you tell us why this happened in DTW (ALPA) or AUS (APA) or JFK with DAL (ALPA)?

After all, union represented pilots, according to you, would have prevented such incidences!

Once again, I eagerly await you response!
