For us casual observers, what was Bob Neil's hire date?

Bob Neil is the recall coordinator; he was hired 8/18/97. Never furloughed. Good guy.

There are approximately 850 on the bypass list. Word is that the first 100 bypassers got letters for the second Feb class.
 
I just went on skynet; it listed the junior pilot on bypass as #8552, hired 03/12/2001; the junior man on the seniority list is #8655. It also listed 823 pilots as remaining on bypass.

The number listed for recalls in January is 161; that number includes mil leave and leave of absence. I think that there were approximately 55 in recall classes for Jan.

Are new recalls still being allowed a 90 LOA after recall?

From what I've read, no one else will be allowed a new LOA. From everything that I've read, you have to get the LOA approved prior to your first pass at recall. I don't know how far in advance you can get a LOA approved. I also don't know if you can get an LOA approved and then take a bypass the first time around.
 
New Returnee

Just started …very dismal atmosphere and lot of glum faces. During one of the briefings from a senior leader…one with coke bottle glasses and only been with the company for one year…he states “we are trying to win the hearts and minds of the employees.” When asked, how that is possible when his cronies get heinous raises, he states, “CEO deserves every penny, don’t like it leave.” Even worse is ALPO. What an incestuous group of thugs. Used to think they were a necessary evil. Briefed by senior ALPO rep. For the most part couldn’t understand what she was saying…spoke like a little mouse. Can’t believe she could lead her way out of a wet paper bag. In fact the company lacks leadership. Good beancounters perhaps, but leadership uh uh. Did get an honest assessment from another local Den rep. Not good what the senior guys did to furloughs. Brotherhood! Not! Not surprised, saw bits and pieces of that when I was leaving. My point, make an informed decision before returning. I was sitting in classes thinking to myself, “what the hell did I just do, left a good flying job to return to this.” Further, furloughs need to stick together.

appreciate your views as a returnee. I figure I have another month of waffling before I need to give my final answer. I'm in kind of the same boat as you were...I have a current flying job, but tempted to return to UAL (lured by the 401K plan and the potential salary jumps in 2009). Please keep us updated as you progress through training. I hope the situation gets brighter for you.

PB4, no from CO. Guys remember, opinions and analysis just like pie holes, everyone has one. Need to talk to others to form your own. I did fail to mention the bright spots…Bob Niel--outstanding, guy leading us around like puppy dogs…Eric M.-- outstanding, ladies hosting the seminar in ORD very sincere and truly wonderful. Have to admit management was honest and upfront. No new airplanes on order or on the horizon. Merger mania seemed to be a theme. Mr. Cokebottleglassesguy just hit a raw nerve but I believe he is honest. He truly believes the upper crust deserves the megabucks. I have an MBA…I could have hired outside counsel and crushed the employees too. Even been on the pointy end of a 12 ship with a pinched a-hole. Hmmm am I worth the mega bucks? Biggest concerns with ALPO…I assure you they do not have furlough interests in their field of view. On the other hand, in all fairness, there may be some that are concerned with folks making $31 an hour. Just didn’t see it this week.

Talked with Bob Neil today for the latest news:
- he hasn't sent out the letters (x40) for the March class yet because the company is thinking TK can only support 1 recall class...getting backlogged. April and May are uncertain as well (whether 1 or 2 classes).
- My seniority number is 8015 and he said there are 168 bypassers to go through before he gets to me (not counting the 40 letters he has ready to mail for the March class). Said he expects to get to me in May/Jun.
- Assuming 2 classes April and May, I'm guessing the next few recalls will consist of the following seniority numbers: April class 1 will be #8183- #8143, April class 2 will be #8142-#8102. May class 1 will be #8101-#8061. May class 2 will be #8061-#8020.
- Training pay is based on whatever airframe you get for the recall at the 70 hrs per month guarantee rate.

Hey Puppy or Andy-

I was a 3/20/00 hire, but don't know my seniority number. Where would I fall on the list?

Just trying to get an idea when I have to $#!t or get off the pot.
