So SIG are you saying that you have better morals than her.

I'd say your are a little too self rightious. if you don't like it then don't buy the magazine. By the way have you ever been to confesion and been glad that it was only god that knew what you did.

No I'd say I'm more conservative, and I think what she did is unproffesional. She'll never be looked upon with respect by any airman under her (no pun unitended), and she'll always be someone that superiors won't want in their unit. I hope she gets the boot, because it's obviously what she wants. Not exactly a stellar performer as it is... Joined in the mid-90's and is an E-5? If she wanted to pose that's her perogative, but do it when you're out, and def. NOT under the guise that she used as being some hard ass AF DI (that's just laughable regardless).

Core values?

Talk about hypocrisy!.....the BX/PX sells the friggin' magazine. If her posing in Playboy goes against our core values, can you say the same about those that buy it?

Let's be honest here...how many of you currently in the military will buy it? I know I will. :D

I bet it would be a different issue if there were no pictures of her in uniform or no mention of her job.

Of course as mentioned previously in the thread there would be no media circus to drive Playboy sales and further her future as a model or whatever her goal is.

While I have never served, I respect those who do. Those of you defending her understand that she is using the respect many civilians like myself hold for our soldiers to generate publicity for herself by be "shocking". Whatever your stance on the military and morals, the chick used you for her benefit. My opinion anyways.

You bring up a very good point. There have been attempts in the past to ban porn magazines from the BX/PX in the past. I didn't follow the issue closely enough to remember what happened, but I'll bet that political or legal pressure was placed on the military to back off. I'd be willing to be that DoD would still prefer to get porn out of the BX/PX. They are a money-making corporation, and would surely offer some pushback.

And, no, I won't be buying an issue to "check her out".

Huggy,

"They" (whoever that is) were semi-successful in banning porn from the BX/PX. Since the late '90s, only the soft-core stuff has been available (i.e. Playboy).

BTW, I think we have a mutual friend - SG from Florida. You and I may have even met at Oshkosh in '97 or so (between beers!).

I am sure she knew the rules of this game before she signed the release form

I have to throw in my 2 cents on this one. half these post must be flame bait.

Good luck to her. She's no dumb 18 year old and she appears to be a good business woman. No different than a guy getting out to go to Fed Ex and make some money. I'm sure she talked to her lawyer and a JAG before she signed the release and took the check. The military is all about business and money and anybody who thinks differently is going to get taken advantage of.

I'll buy a copy and take it to my reserve unit on drill weekend and give it to my wing commander. The military is no saints club and never has been. We are trained to kill people in exchange for money! I'm just a little thug for big business and I am comfortable with that. It's paid me well for 18 years.

Some of you idiots are the reason we are losing this war I've been forced to fight.

Now that statement is ridiculous. The military is a profession of arms...which, by definition means we should (at least some times) be professional.

The fact that she posed ruined her credibility in her current position/assignment. PERIOD. That fact that she flaunted it to trainees and other TIs ruined what little professionalism she had. PERIOD. Whether she simply posed or not isn't the real issue...it's the affect it has on the military and her position.

I trained and HAVE killed people in my career. But when I was doing that, I still didnt want to have a crewmember or squadron member that no one respected for whatever reason. My trust in that crew-member's ability to do his job and the ability of him to command the other member's of the crew would be questionable at best.
JiminTexas analogy of the guys going out and getting plastered and laid is a good example - but did the SQ CC do it with 5 of his jr enlisted watching? I bet not. Again, this affected her ability to do her job.

Please tell me you had just a tiny flicker of doubt before you posted that. Or at least a shred of regret afterward. If not, I hope you get better.

Oh, and your Commander In Chief says we're not losing the war. You calling him a liar?
