Actually kids my line about mountain flying was to point out that I don't feel the company supports us properly; my bros and sisters flying at s5 unfortunately have had to learn it mostly on their own. And for the record we do have guys doing Mexico in night IMC (or did, not sure if shuttle still has Mazatlan or not).

For you holier-than-thou types: which ERJ operator came within 300 feet of a hilltop in Mexico City and then wrote up the GPWS for erroneous warnings?

Mountain flying is not that hard (I speak from experience). I don't think I need a company to "teach me" how to mountain fly. Just follow the dp, and be aware of your surroundings. period.

These guys preaching their mountain flying prowess (Erjfo), are the same ones that use the "I fly jets" pickup line. Get over yourselves. RAH crews are just as safe as any other regional. You are no better than the rest of us.

First of all, I don't use that pickup line... Pure facts there. Comparing the destinations XJT goes to over RAH destinations it's easy to see who's more experienced, but that wasn't the point of my comment. I was trying to debunk a statement someone else made about how great RAH's mountain flying is, complete with photocopies.

Honestly Who Gives a shizzle? Your airline is better than mine, mine is better than yours, BLAH BLAH BLAH THERE we are finished!!

Fly Safe

Only one way to settle this. Who hits a mountain first??? Oh... wait... A major already did that in Latin America.....

We can, in fact, all be professionals and do our jobs. SA is the key when it comes to operating in and around mountains. Easy enough. Just have a decent idea of what altitude constitutes "safe reading altitude" and everyone will be fine.

For the record, flying in and out of Denver is mountain flying about like kissing your kid sister is getting some. Try VOR approaches into La Paz at night in WX if you wanna get a taste for mountains crawling up your butt. Flying freight was nothing if not interesting. Even still, we managed not to hit anything... not that hard, just requires a bit of preparation.

Nonetheless, you kids be safe out west. And I mean that in the sincerest way possible.

What I was thinking. Good point!

F9 makes you wonder why Delta is not to happy with the E-170s..Wait to you pay the fuel bill for several months vs what you were paying on the CRJ-700. Makes you wonder why Delta is not wanting to hang on to those E-170s? Delta is not happy with Republic or Mesa.....You get what you pay for !!

and as a gayjet pilot you know so much. how hulas treating you these days.

Not happy with Republic. Your a sad sad little man

I love these quotes from the CR-7 pilots......my worst experiences at my job, by far, is when i have to deadhead on a CR-7.

its amazing to me that people have to pay money to sit in the back of one of those things, that is the most uncomfortable ride in the air, i would rather sit on a saab 340 and not have to manipulate my entire body to just look out the window.

the CR-7 is so uncomfortable and inconvienant, the only reason they keep them around is because of how cheap they are. For routes the company cares about and wants to keep business passengers on, its always a 170 or mainline. let the leisure pax who fly once a year sit on the CR-7.

The windows are in the normal position on the CRJ-700. The glorified bizjet (CR2) is the one with the low windows.

The 170 is a great airplane...but its just that guys, an airplane. Is the 170 nicer than the CR7 from a passenger perspective? Sure - but economics dictate the 'best airplane' for a given route and for an airline.

Let's leave the drooling (and worse) to Airliners.net, shall we?

well this is a fun game ill throw in. how about flying into juneau or sitka and ketchekan alaska. how about fairbanks and anchorage. hahah i got yall beat when it comes to mountain time. this was also at night in the worst wx. man i miss the freight dogin days.

As far a Delta not being happy with the 170 I think that issue has been solved. We have been able to get the fuel burns down under what the boys and Brazil thought the 10 would average. The number I have heard is in the range of 3-4% of the 700. And since the 170 is actaully 70 seat not 64 seat airplane I would think the per seat mile cost is in the same range. But what do I know I'm just a pilot, not an accountant. And lets face it the numbers guys will make it look how ever they want. Someone said it right though its a plane, it goes up and down just like the rest of them.
