Crew Planning is still continuing to work on the February pairings and bid lines. We are still receiving changes from Delta. We should make the deadline for electronic posting but the printed copies may be out late in the day or shortly after.
What can you expect for February as we move into tight staffing:
  • Lines will be pushing 90 hours.
  • Some pairings will be scheduled for 8 hours of flight time.
  • Some lines will have 5 days of work in a row (ie 3-day trip plus a 2-day trip or 4-day trip plus a 1-day trip).
  • Increase in 4 day trips and reduction in 3 day trips in the overall pairing solution.
LAX Crews - There will be a staged crew overnight in SFO in addition to the PSP Nap.
ATL CRJ700 - You can expect increased deadheading to/from CVG to cover the new CRJ700 flying

If you know of candidates that you would like to recommend for pilot positions at ASA, please send a copy of their resume to Dan Robertson. He may be reached at dan.robertson

I guess we should have started hiring a littler sooner?

Dear ASA Mgt.,

Your failure to plan ahead does not constitute this bs. You wanted to play games with us and now you're getting burnt. Fix your own problems and don't expect us to care.

When did Piedmont's Flight Support get hired by ASA?

Amen brother.... Amen.....

I'm already excercising my middle finger in anticipation of meeting the Summer's Eve salesman who builds our lines.

Send some of those 4 day trips over to us! We've already got those 5 day stretches. They're crap. My last trip was only a 4 day stretch with 3 nights in domicile. Two non-commutable 2 days. "Insert airline here" really sucks a big one.....

this just poped up too. If you want a job here, my guess is that if you are breathing they will hire you.

Starting in February, we are going to be extremely tight with overall pilot staffing as we receive 8 CRJ700s. This will continue through the first part of May.
Besides our acceptance of new aircraft, I believe our attrition will pick up as more carriers begin to hire. Delta is sending out 10-12 letters this week to ASA pilots inviting them for interviews with possible class dates in February.
Our Training Department is ramping up as we push through 40 new hires per month plus 20 or so other pilots that require training (ie upgrade, transition, return from leaves, etc.). Relief is coming but we were not prepared for such a quick ramp up of aircraft to be staffed.
Between February and May, personal leaves of absence will be hard to obtain, if not impossible. If you have a vacation week scheduled in March or April and can move it to later in the year, it would be greatly appreciated. We are planning to offer incentive pay for working on days off in accordance with the contract, details to follow.
There is no doubt that the months of March and April will be the most painful but we will work to minimize the impact to your quality of life.

Time to ramp up the contract pressure, you all look a little flu like to me!;)

Someone find Charlie Tutt's memo about displacements and re-post it. The Company is in this position because of the games it decided to play with its loyal, productive, employees.

Everyone who could float a resume typed their up and sent it out after Tutt's memo. Now he reaps the seeds that he planted.

How history repeats itself. When I hired in it was after the pre-contract beatings chased away many pilots and Delta was hiring our instructors. Boo flippin hoo.

They want to cut instructor pay. Well lets see how that works out.... Hey Mr. Tutt, maybe there is a reason the Company agreed to the training side letter of agreement.

Oh well, this is temporary. SkyWest will get caught up and then they will start with the doom and gloom memos again. Yawn... Which of the four options are we in now?

Here's to option #5, that we get hired somewhere else.

ASA has never planned for anything, let alone the future! Seen it numerous times during my 22 years here! Like the article stated, the G/O needs hosed out of mismanagement.

STRIKE!

:rolleyes:And WHO was it that said we have NO LEGS to STAND ON for our contract? Where you at Assman and Cheese myster? Once again, guttless wonders benefiting from the "LOYAL" support of others!!!

I love how they make their ineptness and shortcoming MY problem! Tutt has to go. They reap what they sew, but why is it now my problem to cover their mess?!?!

So how does SH know about 10-12 letters? Has Delta contacted ASA with this info, or has Delta just decided to give this many slots to ASA pilots? Sure wished I were receiving a letter...

c'mon guys.

History lesson : Charlie Tutt is retired from Delta. He worked as a management pilot for Delta.

My guess is he called them or they called him and said they were doing this. A little business back scratching.

Good luck to those who interview.

According to another thread, pilots are getting "emails" to call Delta for an interview date. Maybe they can't afford the stamps any more under the bankruptcy reorganization. Now I'm contantly checking email..

Directly from the horses mouth..

Delta advises us of the number of people that have potential interviews so that we can plan our staffing. It is a courtesy so we can try and gage the number of replacement pilots we need to hire.

Yes, it is an arbitrary number based on the criteria they selected in their database of applicants. This is the first round for Delta and I expect Delta will be calling more ASA pilots soon. We have a very good reputation at Delta for supplying pilots they are looking to hire.

I am supportive of pilots who wish to move to Delta and will help when possible.

I didn't know ASA was in the textiles business. How many SEWing machines do they have? What's starting pay?

I get the impression that the recruiters are in no hurry to ramp-up hiring. I sent ASA a resume at the end of December, (1250 TT, 1000 multi, 750 turbine). No response.

I think I'll fax one to 'em and see if I can get their attention. (BTW, I couldn't get the link to dan.robertson to work. Guess I need "Outlook").

Cheers!

I wonder if it has crossed their little minds to increase the number of lines or if they will continue to keep 1/4 of the pilots on reserve?

I know one of our pilots who worked in the hiring department as an intern, it was very disorganized until a nice little lady came in and cleaned it up, but then our DUI happy female pilot came off leave and got her job back as head of that department that she had made a mess of to begin with, and sent the nice little lady packing.

Now it is run by a few retired pilots who have their hands full out of the blue and have told people they are offering class dates on the spot.

Be persistant and call until you get someone on the phone, dont just wait for them to call.

In the past whatever made sense they would do the opposite.

the new management has not been here with a shortage so we shall see how they handle things this go around.
