Yeah they are hiring all they can get. I applied in mid december and was called within the week. From what I heard because all the interns were given a class everything is backed up (I guess they used to do the screening). Be in ATL on the 15th!!!! and by the way - they did offer all that made it through the interview the class on the spot and sent us home with the paperwork.

<the new management has not been here with a shortage so we shall see how they handle things this go around>

my how we forget - summer 05 we were cancelling dozens of flights daily cause of pilot shortage right after tutt split the already short staffed training department in half. it was over a one month wait for ioe that summer.

according to a standards ip - nearly a dozen guys have quit in the last two months and not a lot of people are applying since tutt want to send all standards pilots back to the line when the contract is signed.

What kind of airline management lets themselves run out of PILOTS!!!! That's like a pizza place running out of cheese!

When I worked at an Arby's in college, we ran out of roast beef almost every Friday night. Go figure...

Fly the contract. We all know these clowns are AFU'd. Think of all the "removed for training" that is on the horizon when they are flying 40 FNG's a month.

Dick

I wonder if it has crossed their little minds to increase the number of lines or if they will continue to keep 1/4 of the pilots on reserve?

:rolleyes:Now Gear, you realize that "implies" there is a thought process in the ASS Mgmnt......RIIIIIIIIGHT!!! Cmon Big D....gimme a call!

They just announced that all Open time pickups from now until Jan. 30th will be premium pay(150%). Too bad this doesn't apply to open time swaps....but it is sure tempting to trade a day off for a few hours of premium pay..

Good luck trying to pick anything up with 90 plus hour lines.

Scott has been over at DAL confering with them about our guys as well as their interview process. He is actually very involved. Yes, that is scarry. There will be a lot of ASAers going to big D.

Guys and gals. Eight RJ's do not cause this type of shortage overnight. Any idea what is on the horizon?

I hear it's not looking very good for Skywest Inc with the Frontier stuff. That's from a former chief pilot at ASA by the way.

I still believe once the Big D gets going, you're going to see ASA empty out pretty quickly. I'll be interesting to see what shakes loose with how regionals will atttract "qualified pilots" (very loosely use of the word qualified).

I picked up a dayline from the last opentime pot from monday the 8th for a trip on the 15th. Am I eligible for 150% or is it only for stuff picked up after the 10th till the 30th?

Your schedules suck, your ramp ops suck, your management sucks, your contract neg suck. your hiring low time pilots and cant get enough of them......so its not just MESA that sucks.

I've been much worse places. ASA is not as bad as Mesa, not even close.

So far as being caught short, I'd rather get worked for a few months than see furloughs. The Big D decides what and how much flying we get. Hiring at the next level can be erratic just as it is at the regional level. Not to justify that we got caught with our pants down, but to add a diferent perspective maybe.

Riddle Dooork:

Your mommy called, and and said she's going to take your computer away if you don't go to bed right now.

The bottom line is it gets real old working for mgt. that really s____. Pilots come to work and do their job accurately but mgt comes to work and messes everything up.

An airline job is not a bad job, mgt. just makes it a bad job.

I'll remember that next time I'm 'camping out' or sharing one room for a whole crew, having 8 days off/mo. and accepting the lowest wages in the industry to undercut the rest of the industry to win more flying! Oh, wait...ASA doesnt do any of that! Nevermind. How'd your last contract go....oh yea, you rolled over for JO right away. Excuse us for holding out and fighting for what we are worth. Lets talk low time pilots....oh yea, most of Mesa's pilots are 300 hour Mesa grads, hmmm. Nice try.

Interesting

How is that flow through agreement working out wth Delta? (flow) Sounds like you think all 200 new hires at Delta are coming from ASA. WTFO? Is Delta going to run a class of 200 on Feb 1st? LMAO

How in the fcuk you get that?

Most of us know the airline thing goes in cycles. From outward appearances, it looks like it's going up now. Could change again next year. You knows. But once the Delta starts hiring large numbers (200 isn't large, knob) at current numbers, not even 20 a month, I think there will be quite a few form ASA go. Taking the furloughees didn't hurt the cause either.

Don't do it Rausda. It's the only chance we have to force them to staff properly.

Don't worry, I would rather be at home , with the family than trade a day off.

Was looking through the Open Time pot for CR7 FOs and noticed quite a few CVG overnights. Wasn't aware of these trips from the original group of January pairings. So I go and click on the pairings, and they already have Capt. positions filled by line holders.

Are people already picking these trips up?

Thanks for leaving the plane in CRW with no load manifests, you POS short timer.

Yeah, i noticed that, but we came out of E, and i wasnt about to go all the way to C to get some. (considering we had a 45 minute scheduled turn, which of course means, plane swap, concourse swap) Besides, all GOOD F/Os have some in their flight bag.

And you didn't have any you could leave, so by your reasoning.....ah nevermind.

Just heard that one of our close to 60, double digit seniority # guys is going with you to your new employer.

OK, who is the double seniority guy leaving? Must be to a fractional if he is close to 60.

"We'd like to welcome aboard all soldiers, seamen, and airmen....."

If you've ever flown with him or been in back to hear his informational but very loooong PA's you should know who I'm talking about. He was on the PA for almost the entire leg from DHN to ATL when I flew with him, which really wouldn't have been a problem had he not been Pilot Flying. Nice guy though.

I was told he was going to CitationShares, and looking at the newest seniority list I don't see his name listed anymore so it looks like he's already gone.

He already retired a few months ago and I knew he interviewed at CSs. I thought there was another one leaving.
